There has been a lot of talk about open standards and what they mean. The Khronos Group is the real deal when it comes to open standards development, and it’s thanks to their sponsorship that the alliance is hosting its next annual meeting at GDC 2015.
“The ITA is a unique forum for diverse companies to identify collaborative opportunities to accelerate the mainstream adoption of virtual and augmented reality. Consumer-ready VR and AR will require many interoperating standards, and Khronos looks forward to working with the ITA to help make that vision a reality.” – Neil Trevett, President, Khronos Group (makers of OpenGL).
The alliance has initiated open standards development, and we first announced this effort at CES 2015. It’s very much a long-term effort, and we’ll talk about the alliance’s progress at GDC 2015 (offsite).
A more complete announcement can be found at the ITA website. Much more to come!
In the meantime, we have our interview with Stream Networks TV talking about their Ultra-D glasses-free technology at CES 2015. Lots of fun!
