Control VR Innovates, Gear VR at TechCrunch!

By September 19, 2014March 24th, 2020News

MTBS got a chance to catch up with Matt Ruttenberg, Co-Founder of Control VR at the TechCrunch VR Meetup.  Turns out they made a big enhancement to their motion tracking system that greatly simplifies the calibration process.  It’s now just a matter of clapping your hands together and taking a quick bow!  We’ll see what more we can learn later in the show.

MTBS was really excited to try out Samsung’s Gear VR, and we got an early preview thanks to NextVR being onhand with some of their latest 360 degree 3D footage.  It’s a bit early to make a final judgement because the NextVR content isn’t really processor intensive compared to a game.  However, what we did see was very snappy and definitely low latency; even competitive with Oculus’ desktop equivalent.

NextVR’s visual result was pretty snazzy too.  The footage we saw at CES 2014 was a twisted mess compared the the crisp imagery that was showcased on GearVR.  We are looking forward to putting the GearVR through its paces at Oculus Connect!

It’s definitely going to be a fun show!
