DTI Reshaping 3D Gaming as we Know it!


Now THIS is seriously cool.  Glasses-free stereoscopic 3D technology has been plagued with all kinds of problems.  Limited resolution in 3D, having to sit in a perfect sweet spot to see the 3D, drops in brightness, and lots more.  It really hasn't been competitive to stereoscopic 3D through glasses because there were just too many trade-offs, and it's very expensive too.

Dimension Technologies Inc. has been in the business for over twenty years, and they think they've found the solution that will deliver:

  • Ghost free imagery in 3D.
  • Ability to have two people sharing the same screen in 3D.
  • 1080P resolution in 3D.
  • NO MORE SWEET SPOTS.
  • Ability to experience crisp 2D and 3D on the same display.
  • Compatibility with side by side content (e.g. DDD TriDef Drivers)
  • No glasses of course.
  • Full or nearly full brightness in 3D.
  • Windowed 3D support (e.g. 3D in a window on a 3D display).

It sounds like a fantasy deliverable, but DTI is committed, and they are getting set to launch a special Kickstarter within a month to release a 27" 3D Gaming monitor that is expected to follow through on this specification.  Part of their magic is based on uniquely placed lenticular technology mixed with head tracking.

If they can deliver on most if not all of these items, this could drastically change the way modern stereoscopic 3D gaming is enjoyed.  It's very exciting stuff!
