Now this is SUPER cool! Control VR (fellow MTBSers!) launched their Kickstarter yesterday to get their upper body motion capture system off the ground. With accuracy to a tenth of a degree, their solution captures nearly every nuance of your upper body movement, and seemingly duplicates fingertip dexterity in the virtual world.
They’ve received some early criticism for being a tad on the pricey side, but their Kickstarter is nearly 50% complete as of this writing, the package will have over ten game demos ready, and they are clearly a contendor in the growing market of gesture capture devices and should easily be able to cut out their own niche in this growing market.
While it is being positioned as being a great tie-in for The Oculus Rift (it is), similar to other devices like YEI Technology’s PrioVR, SIXENSE’s STEM sytem, and the updated Leap Motion with skeletol tracking, this could be a great peripheral to go with all the viable options to be like VRELIA, Technical Illusions’ castAR, Epson’s AR glasses, and countless others. It might even be interesting to see if this would combine well with platforms like the Virtuix Omni.
Best of luck!
