UOIT Showcases Student VR Work

By June 3, 2013April 4th, 2020News

Note from Neil Schneider:

There is a story behind this demo.  The University of Ontario Institute of Technology has been taking a direct interest in immersive technology for some time.  UOIT was a primary partner in the iGO3D gaming initiative and I’ve been working with them to help lay down the foundation for unparalleled expertise and facilities in this area.

Just a few weeks ago, we were giving a tour to some VIPs, and in the case of the race car game, the students were able to get assets from Unity, and create this VR gaming experience from scratch.  Most of it was done the same day of the tour, and they just wowed them.  The bird demo was done some time earlier, and it continually gets enhanced.

What makes these demos neat is they include both Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra support.  Kudos to the UOIT gaming lab!
