First, we want to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for the MTBS Oculus Rift Photocrop contest. We arranged a Novint Falcon as a top prize, but there were delays in shipping because our company contacts changed.
That was resolved, but with all the fine artwork shared in the contest, it seemed wasteful to just have ONE prize. Seriously!
So we secured six pairs of AF33 Audiofly headphones, and each pair has a retail value of about $40 a piece.
The contest was judged independently by MTBS. We gave the highest preference to submissions that seemed the most complex and imaginative to do. While everyone’s work was fun to watch, it’s clear that some submissions were a lot more time consuming than others.
So here we go!
The first prize, The Novint Falcon, goes to Mindless. He had multiple popular entries, and our favorite was “The Fellowship of the Rift”.
The second prize, a pair of AF33 Audiofly headphones, goes to Boll for…his patience!
Omarzuqo gets third prize for The Creation of VR.
Fireslayer26 gets Audiofly headphones for “The First Oculus”.
The sixth prize goes to Coasterpro for Destiny, or “Baby Oculus”. Audiofly headphones are headed your way!
Zalo can’t handle the truth! He’s getting headphones too!
WAIT. We can’t just stop here…can we??!? I think not. We have two more prizes to give away. Radeon Ramdisk is advanced ramdisk software that will work on both AMD and Intel platforms. It’s valued at almost $20 a copy, and we have two keys to give away!
The winners are:
We’ve got some mad science by Cathodoluminescence, and…
VR Grandma by kh3naz!
Well, that’s it folks! We’re tapped out! Feel free to spread the images around, but be sure to credit your MTBS source! Great stuff, everyone! Even Mike Abrash from Valve thought this contest was “fun and brilliant”, and I know he too was looking forward to seeing the winner!
Please PM Neil in the forums to claim your prize. Please send your real name, address, email, and phone number so arrangements can be made. Congratulations again!
Last but not least, we are working on the MTBS site this weekend. Based on some input from Palmer Luckey and our forum members, we want to get some ideas off the ground here. We’ll keep you posted!
