If 3D wasn’t enough, the new thing is “high frame rate” 3D. It seems the movie industry is finally learning what gamers have known all along! Toronto is host to a special workshop devoted to high frame rate 3D (HFR 3D) on Tuesday, November 20th, from 8:30AM to 4:20PM.The Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) will offer a unique look at HFR 3D samples on a 22-foot screen, and feature footage and commentary from James Cameron (recorded), Emily Carr University, and the SIRT centre. HFR experts on hand will include Christie Digital, Side Effects Software, Arc Productions, Deluxe, RealD, Emily Carr University, and researchers from SIRT and 3D FLIC.
This is the same technology that Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit will be based on, so it’s a great opportunity to get an early look at what all the hubbub is about.
