iGO3D

Two major announcements today.  First, the iGO3D team is proud to reveal our new website.  It's still a work in progress, but this site will be the home of the stereoscopic 3D gaming research results we have amassed over the past eighteen months.  It's hoped that what is learned here will impact future 3D game development.  Even though the site isn't finished yet, be sure to check the initiative out to see what we have been cooking.  iGO3D is funded in part by the Ontario Media Development Corporation, the Ontario Centres of Excellence, and the Ontario video game industry.

But this is for game developers!  Why should gamers like you and me care?  Here's the reason...

iGO3D Battlefield 3 Fan Expo Competition

Our final research portion will focus on whether or not gamers can effectively compete in stereoscopic 3D, and what factors if any impact this.  We also want to test out some of the regularly stated claims against 3D to see if they hold water.

The battles will be taking place at Fan Expo 2012, the third largest pop culture event in North America (80,000 fans!).  Gamers will be using a a mix of Zalman 24" polarized monitors, and Samsung 27" LCD shutter glasses displays.  Backed with AMD GPUs and DDD stereoscopic 3D drivers, this competition is going to rock!

Of course, there will also be great prizes including copies of Battlefield 3, DDD TriDef Licenses, AudioFly headphones, and more.  There will be plenty to go around, and it's not necessary to be the best of the best to win something.  This promises to be a lot of fun, and it's all in the name of honest to goodness government funded 3D gaming research.
