Happy American Thanksgiving! The year-end holidays are nearly upon us, and if you’re like us, you’re going to want to kick back and enjoy your entertainment the way it’s meant to be seen and heard. While this series has focused on making the PC the ultimate home entertainment and gaming solution – PC can’t do it all. For streaming media like Disney Plus, Apple TV, Amazon Prime and others – a streaming stick is often necessary to get the highest resolutions and enable the most advanced surround sound technologies available.
Here’s the thing! Even if you bought yourself the latest Dolby Atmos surround sound system with the most modern 4K display or projector, and even though all the streaming solutions market themselves in much the same way with similar features – they don’t deliver the same results. For example, you could find yourself scratching your head wondering why surround sound isn’t working the way it’s advertised with your favorite content provider, or your HDTV may not look as good as it could because its native HDR mode isn’t supported. OR, maybe you have cloud gaming interests and don’t know what to buy.
The streaming stick you select will determine if your surround sound system and display are delivering all they can, or if you invested a lot in advanced technologies, but are only get a subpar experience because your systems are not supported the way you expect. A lot is riding on your $50 choice!
This 40 minute video is a combination review and guide for the Roku Streaming Stick Plus 4K Edition, the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Edition, and Chromecast With Google TV. It also provides guidance on certain game streaming solutions and workarounds to get even more out of your streaming solutions.
On Monday, we will also be publishing our review of the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. It’s getting a dedicated review because it is significantly more than a streaming stick, and there is much to discuss!
