Meant to be Seen would like to wish everyone a happy new year, and best wishes for 2010.

Every year, we glance back to see what has been accomplished, to see if we have really gone that far ahead. We are pleased to report that 2009 has been a very good year for stereoscopic 3D gaming. Here are some highlights:

  • Blitz Games Studios released Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao, the first modern console game to support stereoscopic 3D gaming.
  • Ubisoft released Avatar: The Game, a well received PC and console game with native S-3D support, and a tie-in with James Cameron himself!
  • Electronic Arts has announced development of a stereoscopic 3D compatible video game.
  • Crytek announced native stereoscopic 3D support in CryEngine 2 and 3 via plug-in.
  • All the above game developers have gone on record that they want to support ALL S-3D solutions.
  • Sony has announced plans to support S-3D gaming via PlayStation 3…again.
  • The Blu-Ray Disc Association has announced completion of an impending standard for 3D movies in the home.
  • The S-3D Gaming Alliance was founded as a non-profit corporation. Early members include Blitz Games Studios, DDD, iZ3D, LG, NEXT3D, and more.
  • The 3D Gaming Summit, the first S-3D gaming conference ever, was announced.
  • The MTBS community has more than doubled its traffic since December of last year.
  • MTBS started taking S-3D photos!
  • MTBS-TV was launched (yes, another episode is in the works!).
  • FRAPS 3.0 allows S-3D video game capture with all stereoscopic 3D driver solutions.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our valued members and industry supporters who continue to make MTBS possible. Personal thanks go to Yuriy Nicksych, Syd Bolton, Pam Swartz, Chris Villalobos, and Igor Masin.

2009 was a great year, and 2010 will be even better as the industry joins forces to make S-3D gaming a reality. Please share your S-3D hopes and wishes in our discussion forums. Happy New Year everyone!
