DONATE!

Virieo Perception

We regularly receive requests for the ability to donate to the developers of Vireio Perception so we could buy more games and diversify the game support.  The challenge is we can't accept money for tax reasons, and the use of a Donate button through services like PayPal have responsibilities attached; it's not something we can just do.

We found a solution!  Valve's Steam Store has a service called Wallet codes.  Wallet codes are the equivalent of gift cards, and we can use these codes to buy games for testing and optimization.

Instructions

1. Steam Wallet codes are usually purchased in a store or online (NOT FROM STEAM!).  Try to find Steam Wallet dealers that don't charge shipping fees or extra admin fees where possible - they do exist.  It doesn't matter what country you are in; they are good worldwide.

2. When buying the steam wallet code, if you have a game in mind, add 13% to whatever game you are thinking of buying.  The 13% is for Canadian HST tax and is there to help us make sure we have enough money to pay for the game.

3. Email the code with instructions to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  If you have a specific game in mind, tell us what the game is and we'll work to add it to the library.

4. The wallet codes all get added to a central developer account.  From here, we gift individual games to qualified Vireio Perception developers.

Terms and Conditions

  1. We make no guarantees about anything.  Vireio Perception is non-commercial open source, and is put together by volunteers.
  2. The pricing you see for a given game may not translate to other Steam stores; we'll do our best to buy the game if indicated.
  3. VR drivers are a fickle thing.  Some games will work well, others will be a shabby mess if they work at all.  The developers and MTBS will not be held responsible or accountable for game support.
  4. NO REFUNDS.  All donations are final.
  5. Donations have no impact on scheduling.  The developers will try to optimize individual games when they have the time.  This is all volunteer basis, so we have to work with these expectations or lack thereof.

Thank you for your contributions to the Vireio Perception team!  All help appreciated!

Source Code

The open source portions of Vireio Perception are on Github.  A lot of blood, sweat, and tears continue to go into making Vireio Perception what it is today.  Please use this responsibly by following these guidelines.

How to Get Started

Getting started is easy!

First, download the Vireio Perception 2.X and VRBoost archives from MTBS' downloads section.  We had to keep the files separate for licensing reasons, but they should both be extracted to the same directory.  You need to be registered on MTBS to download the files, but registration is free and instantaneous.  Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have difficulty with this.

Next, run Vireio's "perception.exe" file.

Vireio Perception Console

Select the VR / Stereoscopic 3D display option and applicable head tracker. Once open, don't close this window completely.  Either keep the window open or minimized!

Review the documentation to see which titles are supported, and run your game!

If you don't see the appropriate VR or 3D format on the screen and it appears like the drivers aren't working, they just haven't injected into the game yet. In cases like this, copy all the .DLL files from the Vireio Perception "bin" directory to the game's EXE directory. The "EXE" directory refers to where the game's main *.EXE or executable file(s) is stored. The files that need to be copied include d3d9.dll, libfreespace.dll, hijackdll.dll and VR Boost.dll where applicable.

Games may need additional modifications and adjustments for better field of view choices and graphics settings for VR use.  If you need help or wish to lend a hand, post regularly in Vireio Perception's official discussion forums!

CAREFUL: Don't use Vireio Perception with multplayer games with anti-cheat measures as the software could get recognized as a hack and either kick you or ban you.
