ok guys the idea is this:

i have no idea, if this is pure coincidence or not, but most of the guys here are CRAZY! yes me too! and the boss? look at the halloween picture! nothing to say! likay? he made a strobe out of a microwave transformer! freke? the name says all! we're a bunch of crazy people, so called "forver young", this is why i thought that this topic could be really funny.. the idea, is to post "myths" (obviously not too big ones) and who can, or want, can bust them.. :D it can be done with clips, pictures, mp3 files (registered by you obviously) and we start to bust our myths... :D the clips or images or whatever can be posted in the gallery..

keep it FUNNY!

:)

and first myths to bust:

- is it true that if you put a chestnut (http://images.google.com/images?hl=it&q ... a=N&tab=wi)without cutting it into the fire it may explode?

- is it true that HALF of a already cooked egg, will explode if put in the microwave?

- is it true that if you knock a bottle of "Corona beer" against the table il will freeze?

- can the "magic" trick of the following video really be done?
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/751168/co ... er_bottle/

have fun.. :)

Yes, I think so.
Yes, watervapour will explode the egg I think
No way
You can weld steel together with pressure and friction so why not this?

these need busting:

Ok, I solved the first one with the squares in different colors, and then seeming to be the same color.

Watch the white square alone. It's changing colors during the movie - there ARE tricks!

Just look at the square, and you will see that it changes shades as objects are moving around.

The 1. one is real: SAME colors (I tested it in Photoshop)
The 2. one is fake I think (lately there's a lot of fake videos)
The 3. one I don't know.

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/801580/co ... ut_second/

im going to try this as soon as i can..

regarding your third video im going to test it tomorrow, even if i am shure that it is a fake and that there is pure alcohol on the top.

:)

ill post the clip as soon as i have it.. :D

Hm to the burning water: Is it possible to do electrolysis - split 2x H2O in 2x H2 and O2 - with just two batteries?
Would water burn like this after prepared that way?
--> it should explode. Maybe youre right, it might be burning alcohol.

To the beer: maybe it's not beer, but some strong chemicals which freeze. I dare say you'd get ill, if you drank that freezing beer. Apart from that, what sense would that make? You can't drink a block of ice :?

nope you cant make electrolysis with 2 batteries.. 1st theyre not connected each other, 2nd, the + and- poles should have different materials (cant remember wich ones) 3rd if they get again near they trasform to whater again, 4thif you take the batteries out youre going to blow away wichever gas is building up there..

Regarding the freezing beer: I had this phenomena with ordinary soda. There is some things that must fit for this to "work". The temperature of the soda/beer needs to be slightly below the freezing point. For me i had the phenomena with the soda freezing when i opened it. It's really fascinating but it's a hard trick to reproduce. The physic? The carbondioxide maintains a pressure in the container thus lowering the freezing point. When you open it and release the pressure... In the video you might have the same procedure as with "superheated" water. It won't boil until you have either a sudden move of the water or insert something to "catalyse" the bubbles. Think it might be the same with the beer. When it was shaked, some bubbles made it possible for the water to start make crystals. On the other hand the pressure should increased and making the icy procedure harder to start. Note: Not sure about the "icy" physics though. :D

Burning water: I don't think the water can store that much hydrogen during the electrolysis so you actually can put it into fire. There's gotta be some other fuel in the glass... In other word: It's most likely bogus.

edit: Hey! I got rid of my "crosseyed problem"!!!! o.O

cheers
