The amazing Sauerbraten (Open source)

Post by scarab »

Sauerbraten is not only a German meal its also game (based on the cube2 engine). The shaders in this game are GREAT!!

http://sauerbraten.org/

The game crashes if you enable water refelections and water refractions.
HUD and crosshair are 2d.
The 3d ingame game-menu looks very cool!

No Anomalies.
And you can adjust Separation and Convergence without reducing any in-game settings or special adjustments.

One of the main developer (i think he the founder of the cube-project) has worked on Farcry for the German developer Crytek! (http://strlen.com/)
Everyone can download Sauerbraten for free. I think we should speed up the certification process and also make the Certification Results of this game public. If we make it public the cube-community can brag about their Paltinum game and they can show the mtbs logo at their Website.
Maybe we can spark interest in S-3d at crytek or the open source community.

edit: Open source games have no Publisher and no developer company.
Can we ask every developer? What is if one of 100 developers say he dont want to make the result public? I think if a open source game is Platinum (like Sauerbraten or Tremulous) we should public this result.

You raise some valid questions!

What is key is the certification is thrust - not forced - on the game developer. It's important that they are part of the process, and it is a positive experience.

I assure you, if 100 developers get asked by 100 people, they won't be keeping their certification results a secret.

If a game is open sourced and has no decision making publisher, I have no objections to releasing its certification results. We should create an "Open Sourced Developer" category, and put the game under that list.

I am working on an advocacy section for the website and forums, so more news to come.

It's imperative that our members participate in positively influencing the developer community.

Best wishes,
Neil
