I am a 3D n00b and have an ATI card please help
right, i hear this driver works with ati so i have been trying and not having much luck.
i have a ati x1900xt and edimensional glasses.
i run the openstereo.exe file
hook the xlm with the same name as the games exe
then run the game
what settings do i choose on the 3d activator?
also is there anything else i need to do?
the games usually crash when loading up
call of duty 2 loaded but it just looked discoloured and i wasnt getting 3d
thanks for any help

The openstereo.exe is a hook for some games -preconfigured for Flatout2 and HL2.
It showes the game in Anaglph (=Red/Cyan or Red/Blue) mode. So it's a first progress, when the colors don't look normal
You should get some 3D, when you watch these funny colors trough e.g. Red/Blue glasses.
The Ed driver has nothing to do with the openstreo-driver.
The ED activator is supposed to tell your glasses to run or when to shut...
But there should be an other driver, where e.g. Interlaced mode can be selected. This worked for Warcraft3. I saw two shifted pictures every other line, but my glasses didn't even flicker...
Maybe that was due to the fact, I don't have ED glasses, but was trying to use Elsa Revelators
Maybe you'll have luck with this.
Ah and by the way: There is a config.xml in the folder of openStereo, where PageFlipping mode could be selected. This is supposed to work, if your FPS are eqaual to your refreshing rate (exactly 120FPS at 120HZ monitor refresh rate. This never worked for me, didn't get nearly enough FPS...

I totally understand.adamwwe wrote:i was confussed at the beginnig when i read that this works with the shutterglasses
All You need is a 6 or 7 series Nvidia graphics card, a CRT monitor that can run games in 1024*768 at 100-120Hz and some shutterglasses (NOT the ones that is designed to be used with LCD monitors).
The rest is expensive iZ3D monitors (works with ATI) or red/blue colored experimental beta "drivers" that reboots Your computer or maybe works with 2% of the games. Don't bother - it's not worth it as a 3D gamer.

ok that could be misunderstand - I will edit my previous post.
What I mean is shutterglasses for use with CRT monitors. The shutterglasses for use with LCD screens are different somehow although they look similar.
They all have 2 mini LCD screens/glasses to provide the shutter effect but the shutterglasses for use with LCD monitors have to use the eDimensional driver wich is not good.

lmao! Imagine the noise of those with a frequency of 120 Hz!Jahun wrote: Was already wondering if someone was playing with huge mechanical shutters
adamwwe: You can try to use the e-dimensional driver for your glasses. I don't promise it'll work but give it a shot. I provided a link to the activator as well. But i don't think it's necessary though. Haven't tried to play stereo on an ATI-card but this might be the best shot so far. Try with some older games first since the compability will be higher with those.
Driver: http://www.edimensionalfiles.com/solo11 ... update.exe
Activator: http://www.edimensionalfiles.com/solo11 ... ds/E-D.exe
cheers

You are trying to combine 2 different 3D dirvers/driver and hook. I don't think, that it will work. The solution is more in trying both things seperated.adamwwe wrote:so if i choose interlaced mode on tha glasses and do the hook thing i should get 3d?
i can only get about 100 fps
You tried the ED driver (where to Choose Interlaced mode), and think it's crap, so there is the hook.
I think 100fps is a good basis for pageflipping mode. If you use 100hz you should have 1 different pictures at each new refresh - 50 for each eye per second.adamwwe wrote: i can only get about 100 fps
You want to use shutterglasses (of ED) with pageflip mode, so you have to open the config.xml in the RealStereo.rar and change these parameters:
As you can see, the pageflip mode (which showes right, left picture after each other) is No. 2. This has to be inserted at the stereoType:<stereoType value="1" />
- <!-- 0 - anaglyph; 1 - optimized anaglyph; 2- pageflip, 3 - over&under
-->
<stereoType value="2" />
The hook should be open, when starting the game you want to Play in 3D.
If the screen showes 2 slightly different pictures which seem to be nearly one, you are right. Be shure to have vsync enabled, so the graphicscard doesn't calculate too many pictures.
If your frames drop too low, your Glasses might not 'flicker' at the right rate...
You should read this thread, where KindDragon explains his program:
