I get artifacts even enabling "oblivion compatibility" :(

Hello there, i'm a newbie here ;)
But i have a hmd since about a year and i've never been abled to make it work on 3d until now.

I have 2 8800GTX running in XP.

I read in this forums I should use some old drivers: So i got forceware 181.00 and 16250 stereo drivers.

Now I can choose my ddc shutter glasses, but I can't get rid of the artifacts, that little black squares around the screen, even when launching nvidia 3d test (the one with the nvidia logo)

Actually there's only one game that works for me in 3D with no artifacts: Outrun 2006, only if I set the AA at max in the gameoptions and I have iz3d drivers activated too, dunno why.

Anyway, i haven't too many games to deal with... so i don't know if it's just the way this games are working or there's something wrong with my setup.

Cod MW2: so many artifacts, still there's no real 3d, only menus.
Turok evolution: very nice 3d but full of artifacts.
house of the dead 2: no real 3d (only menus) and full of artifacts.
UT3: no artifacts, but not real 3d, only weapons and objects are in 3d.
Mass Effect 2: same deal
Doom 3, Prey, Far cry 2: I get an error when launching, if 3d is enabled.

So that's it, I tried with Nhancer 2.4.2 dealing with that ss4x4 oblivion compatiblity stuff but can't see any difference.

Any help?

Thank you so much. :)

Sorry for the late response.

You're at a major disadvantage using this outdated software. What kind of HMD are you using? It it dual head (two connectors)? That would open your options up.

Neil

Are them in SLI? SLI is not supported, so it may be interfering. Try to disable one of the 8800 at the device manager.

I remember that I have some problems making my 8800 work in XP the first time I follow the guide that exist in a thread, but not the details of those problems. I think that I had to launch the medical test image before it began to work.

Also, the result can vary with resolution. I can't get rid of some artifacts on the top of the display in 800x600, but 1024x768 is perfect.

Hi there, thanks for answer ;)

Actually i managed to activate 3d stereo with the latest nvidia drivers 196.34.

But now the artifacts are worst than ever (can't see any advantage now)

But i don't care how many artifacts there are, i just don't play any game with that stuff moving around, no matter the quantity

Actually i have to disable SLI and launch test for just activate stereo too, and THEN i'm getting the artifacts.

No matter the resolution i use.

However, there's no problem with stereo movies.

Those are my glasses:

it's a ddc io display, a page flipping system, you know, i use just one vga cable with it.

Thanks :)

One way around might be skipping the nvidiastereodrivers (disabling them), installing the iz3d drivers full install and also get the e-d activator program. By running the e-d activator in interlaced mode and the iz3ddriver in interlaced you should be on the go. It's half res, i know, but better than nothing.

Likay, I tried what you said but e-d activator doesn't do anything.

But I realised something:

If I use Iz3d drivers with nvidia stereo enabled, I manage to get the HALF artifacts (and that's still too much of them)
NO matter wich option i use on iz3d control panel or in nvidia control panel, or in nhancer control panel, (antialias, fixes, texture filters etc...) it doesn't makes ANY difference

So now the question is... why do iz3d drivers solves my problem JUST a little?

Maybe that is a tip of what's the problem...

A future release of iz3d drivers will solve the problem maybe?

Thank u again and sorry for my bad english... ;)

Lol! That's surely a new one. Better results with both stereodrivers active? Myself i can at most experience a somewhat proper double injection where both drivers renders stereo. The final result isn't enjoyable though. :woot
The e-d activator might only work for the e-d dongle but i think it has proven to work with other glasses as well.
I went away from shutters quite a long time ago and my up to date knowledge is mostly what i read here so i'm very sorry but i have no idea what to do next.

You could try nvidia drivers 171.23/162.50 and nHancer 2.4.2 or 2.4.5 but my programs don't like that driver and I have a 8800GTS not GTX. You probably want to stick with your jDownloader solution. I'll stick with iZ3D/Tridef for DX9 games. Now I'll only use old-school nvidia as a last resort or for DX8 and below.

happy gaming.
