I have trackir and think it's great, I like it for driving games combined with the 3d, it's an excellent combination. Adding in the triple head would be even better!

i tried freelook with my webcam right now but wasn't able to get it to work. somebody else tried?

Yes I've tried it too but couldn't get it to work either.
With TrackIR You only turn Your head a little to turn the screen image a lot (adjustable).

I got the Freelook program (a0012.zip) to start but when I activate the tracking the mouse flyes all over the screen. In BF2 the view moves uncontrollable. I will keep testing.

hi freke. how did you get to that point? maybe i can try too get it to work.

First I used my webcam to record a movie.
Then I installed a0009 and it worked. So I installed a0012 and it worked too.
The program started but I need to adjust it which is not easy.
So try to use Your webcam and then install/unpack a0012.zip and run freelook.exe. I think my webcam was not working when I first tried.

Try to choose lomac.fl and wear a black cap with a white piece of paper (read Manual.txt). Then configure keyboard (select 2 keys) in the program. When You hit the 2. key once Your headmovement will be tracked if the adjustments are ok. Does not work very well but can track a little.

got it! it works for me.. just needed to adjust the sensitivity. but there still is a problem.. if the prog is not the active window it doesnt work.. so it won't work with games...

Try this out:

My friend got this to work for racing games with just a web cam and
this software.

WOW! this one works much better! but the only problem is that it is only a trial. and another one is that i get the error message that i have a too low refresh rate.

but its much better than the first one

Yes, I've forgotten how much it is for the full version, maybe $10
or $20. I don't know what to tell you regarding the refresh rate message.

my webcam is old.. around 6 years... maybe a new one has a higher refresh rate...

I tried this with my old webcam, too. By installing and running the files my mouse didn't move.
Freelook showed black and white things my webcam captured, so the cam seems to 'work'.

Nate your program didn't do anything (obvious). I can't even find something to configure things...
Should it do something in Windows? Or just in game?

I wanted to use it with DTM Race Driver 3 - because its such an easy (semi)professional racing game and works in 3D with great FPS

Cam2Pan definitively works, but I still need to tweak the settings. Here's a video of what it looks like:

(no mouse used)

The video looks nice. How did you make it so fluent? Is it taken in low resolution? Do you have a superb CPU or a lot RAM?
My Flatout2 movie taken with Fraps was very low frame rate.
I discussed this with Sharky here:
http://mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=470
Maybe you'd like to give some tips on this topic

Is this program supposed to work 'plug and play' or something like that?
Do I yust need to install it, run it with plugged cam and it should do something (in windows or just in Games)?
In that case my cam is not detected/supported etc...

Thx, the video was just to show Cam2Pan in action so no 3D which helps. I use Fraps with half-size and 25fps. CPU is an old single core AMD 2400MHz + 1Gb RAM.

Normally the fps drops from 40-60fps to 25fps when I use Fraps (in 2D that is). But maybe it drops more in 3D?

Cam2Pan works when You start the program (and have a webcam) in Windows and games. The mouse reacts to head movement so it can be diffecault to click on menus. Connect webcam and start program and the mouse arrow moves when You move Your head.

Here's a pic:
http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/3336/cam2panjq9.jpg
(in Cam2Pan: Settings - Video Format - Resolution 320*240)

I still need to experiment.

It works in NoLimits:

but it is a little diffecault to control.

hi freke!

thank you for taking time to test this!
it doesn't seem to work too badly.

does somebody know other programs like this one? what happens if you take a software for a commercial solution and use it with a normal webcam? is that possible? soomebody has original software and a webcam for testing?

Anyone that can review the coolness of this thing for me.. don't have a webcam yet...

Does it work with many games? Half life? And is it nice, but quickly boring?

it is cool, and it virtually works in every game in wich the mouse is neede.. but i would only reccomend it for car-games or similar because aiming is nearly impossible with that...

Ah so you can't use both? Mouse and this method at the same time?

now I get how it works.. yeah just for car games then.. but still
Might work cool with a G25 racing wheel :P
