Shutter-S3D on nVidia 8800 GTS-512 ?

Hello everybody,

it's been a while since I logged into these halls and using the search option didn't provide any helpful answers for me, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

Recently, I updated my aging 7800GS (AGP) to a 8800GTS 512 (PCIe) and for testing my shutterglasses, I tried the beta drivers from iZ3D, namely the latest 1.09beta and also the recent 1.10beta.

My core hardware components sum up like this:
  • ASRock Dual939-VSTA
    Athlon64 X2 3800+EE @ 2.5GHz
    2x 1GB DDR2-800 @ 833MHz
    nVidia GTS 8800-512 @ 700/1800/1000MHz (core/shader/mem)
    EyeQ 777 22" CRT - 1024x768@140Hz
    Eye3D wireless 4in1 and Razor3D wired shutterglasses
Both drivers seem to be working correctly only in interlace mode, because any of the offered page flipping modes results in eye swapping whenever the frame rate drops.

I could somehwat live with interlaced for now, because I'm able to compensate partly the loss of luminosity by raising the monitor's brightness.

However, I was only able to successfully game in S3D when running Painkiller (1.09 resulted in accelerated gameplay, but that seems to be fixed with 1.10).

Now I read that some of you were able to play my persoanle favorite game - rFactor - with these drivers and I was wondering how you possibly accomplished that, because whenever I try to launch rFactor, it simply starts and vanishes again, leaving me sitting and staring at my desktop ...

So here come my inevitable questions:

Would I need a dedicated profile for rFactor ?
Is there a guide available how to setup new game profiles ?
Am I missing something else here ?

Thanx for your time !
Maggi

PS: I am not interested in buying new hardware like an S3D monitor or the new glasses offered by nV.

I personally play rFactor almost EXCLUSIVELY with the iz3d driver in marked shutter (with stereoenabler mode to prevent the eye swapping) and have never had a problem with launching either 1.09 or 1.10. I have heard other people having problems with this though, but its always worked for me. I'd suggest checking out the iz3d forums where it has been previously discussed.

Thanx for your feedback, Chris !

I've searched the iZ3D forums as well, but apart from reports that rFactor was either working or not, I couldn't find any helpful information on what makes or breaks rFactor support on the iZ3D driver ... :/

What is this "stereo enabler mode" you are mentioning ?

Cheers,
Maggi
