Newbie here. Think I have a driver issue, but not sure.

Hi all.

I've just set up some LCD glasses (old X3D model). I can get them to come on and work fine with their test software, but how do I get them to work in games?

I'm running a GeForce 8800GTS with driver version 178.24.

I've got a Gateway CRT that pushes over 120 Hertz.

And I downloaded the 174.76 Nvidia Stereo Driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d_stereo.html.

I run the installer for the stereo drivers, and I get a progress bar, but then it just goes away.

I can use the X3D software to turn the glasses on, and see they are working. But if I open a game that should be supported (per Nvidia Stereo Driver list) nothing seems to happen. Just normal display.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks people.

You're not doing anything wrong. The Nvidia driver doesn't support shutterglasses (aside from their own on 120Hz monitors). You will have to wait and see if anybody gets it to work with generic shutterglasses but I doubt it.

did you try the IZ3D drivers?
they seem to have problems running in "shutter" mode but the "interlaced" mode work perfect with my edimensional glasses
use interlaced mode in IZ3D drivers + interleave mode in razor 3D controller or edimensional controller and it may work fine.
interlaced is not perfect visually but if your game resolution isn't too low you won't even notice :D

ps: maybe you can use X3D software instead of R3D/edim if they support interlaced or interleave mode

I haven't tried the IZ3D drivers...... but I'll give it a shot.

The native X3D does support Page Flip and Interleaved, but I have not found a way to make games work with it yet.

IZ3D should activate the 3d in your games but it won't activate your glasses, so you'll need to use a controller for them. I don't know if you have 1 with the x3D's drivers or maybe you can use the 1 from edimensional, I think it works with most shutters but I'm not sure, you can take the "E-D Activator " from this page:
http://www.edimensional.com/support_updates.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
no need to install it, just save it and start to activate your glasses
