Buying a 4090 - do I say goodbye to 3D?

Post by aofelix »

Are there many 3D games a 4090 can do? Does it require GEO-11?
I have a 2080 PC. I want to upgrade now as the 2080 is slow, and doesnt support some games on old drivers.
I'm keeping the 2080 rig but wondering will the 4090 support most of the games I need in 3D via Geo-11 or is it worth while me getting a 2080TI too?

I run a JVC N5 4K/60
And I run a Triple LG OLED 55 C6 setup.

The triple LG OLED 4K 55 C6 passive 3D setup is very very taxing on my 2080 which is why I want to upgrade.

Yes, like any of the 30XX series, the 4090 only works geo-11 fixes.

When I set up 3 3D HDTV screen configuration years ago, I needed a color calibration tool to make sure all displays matched in terms of brightness levels and color balance. Are your 3 displays well matched without this step? What window management and display mode (TAB or interlaced) are you using for the 3 C6s?
Dual boot VR/3D Vision disk partitioning (multiple SSDs). 3D Vision - Windows 10 v1809, 425.31 driver, 32 GB, i9-9900X@4.5 GHz, hybrid-cooled 2080Ti, 4K LG E6 OLED TV with EDID. VR/geo-11 - 3080Ti with Vive Pro 2, also have Aero, wireless lens-modified Vive Pro, Index, Reverb G2, Pimax 8K.

yeah a lot of 3D games that 4090 will do with Geo-11, I just got it for my C6V and it's game changer. You will have problem with old native 3Dvision games that don't have 3Dmigoto where Dave need to adapt geo-11 like he did with GTA V. that said I will have to test his Geo11 's GTA Vversion with MaxPayne 3 to se if it works

And how do you run 3D with an RTX 4090 without Nvidia3DVision compatible drivers for these cards?
I have the RTX 2080Ti and I still feel like it runs like a shot on my 27" Asus Rog PG278QR and at 2K. It can handle everything and in 3D all games run smoothly.
Mind you, I have an i9 12900K as CPU.

I in no way prefer to play in 4K or 8K in 2D without the immersion that 3D has. I'd rather play at 720p but in 3D than at 4K and without 3D. It's something only surpassed by VR.

Yes true, I forgot about those ;)

Hi Everyone!
I just want to inform the people here that 3d Vision does indeed still work on 4000 series cards. I have an rtx 4090 running the latest studio drivers 528.49 and using 3d Fix Manager from Helixmod website. https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2017/05/3 ... nager.html and I have both been able to watch 3d blu rays using Powerdvd 17, and playing Mafia 2 in 3d vision. :)

But you have to use the Nvidia studio drivers. Not game ready drivers.

What?
Mafia 2 is Dx9, perhaps that 's why it works?
Did you try any Dx11 game?
Will do some tests tomorrow

NVIDIA Surround. Yeah, they're very very well matched. I have 4 C6s. One of them is totally off colour temperature so I left that one in my spare room. Trying to track down a fifth for whenever one breaks,

INCREDIBLE! Very excited to upgrade.
How did you get this working? Install 4090 recent studio driver, install 3DFM and then ask it to update? Could you do a YT video on how you got it working on 4XXX?

When installed 3d vision drivers on newer nvidia gaming drivers, it seems to freeze a little when opening up the nvidia control panel.

I've got a 2080 super that I'm trying to get working on the newer drivers. Still haven't tried it yet, as I didn't complete the install with a 3d vision monitor. The edid override didn't work for some reason as it did with the older nvidia 3d vision drivers.

Once the rtx 4000 series starts to drop in price, will be a great gaming gpu for 3d vision. The rtx 2000 series works with the new sony PSVR2, hopefully the 3d community can get that thing working as well.

Please test this out with a Direct X11 or 12 game and let us know if it works. As I understand, Dx9 games still work in 3D Vision on 3000, 4000 series cards

Part of stereo code was erase from nvwgf2um(x).dll driver file so normal 3D Vision DX11 don't work, only Geo11 with certain restriction. I check-it every driver after 452.22 and the code is missing.

Yes, can you test a dx11 game? You're probably just running the dx9 output which works in regular drivers, too.

FedEx destroyed my 3D vision pc, give advice pls

Hi all,

Feeling really low, my sister is in hospital and my pc got dropped by FedEx on its way to fnac lab for maintenance.

Fnac will be replacing my gpu (Msi 2080ti x trio 6k points in superposition 8k) with a 4070ti ASUS tuf (6500k points in superposition 8k). Case replacement too.

What are my options with the yucky 40 series? Is 3D vision lost me I.e. powerdvd 14 pictures movies?

Is playing system shock 1 remake with losti fix lost me?

What games can I play in 3D?

Please help great community, I got until Monday to reply.

Awesome, I too did exactly this. I'm currently using an RTX 3070 hooked up to my LG EG. I installed the latest studio drivers, then installed 3D Fix manager and ran the 3D driver install. Powerdvd auto switches the TV into 3D mode MVC frame packed and all and it works great.

I tried the same for madvr. However, the video output is SBS no matter what I tinker in the madvr settings. Any ideas on madvr? I can't find anything on the doom9 forum btw.

If you are looking for a significant upgrade from your RTX 2080, then the RTX 4090 is a good option. It is several times faster than the RTX 2080, and it will be able to handle even the most demanding 3D games at high resolutions and frame rates.

I use it with my 55e6p tv from lg.

The games are absolutely fantastic now with GEO-3D. Before I had to compromise, resolution and still sometimes I'd have issues.

But I've recently played
DQ11
Nier Automata
Nier Replicant
Witcher 3
FF7 Remake. All work amazing Full 60 FPS, Full 4k
