Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force has been revived and is for sale over at GOG
Includes the Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force Expansion Pack
https://www.gog.com/game/star_trek_voyager_elite_force
It uses OpenGL, so you would need to use the wrapper from Helifax. I played it via the config file hack
like I used for McGees Alice.
It's considered the best Star Trek game released back then.

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
Thanks, it will be nice to have EF1 without the CD DRM. These are 2 games that run very well with Vorpx now. EF1 will be detected and run perfectly in geometric 3D. EF2 however starts with their generic profile and to get it to run as well as EF1, I changed it to the same profile as EF1 and is brilliant on Vorpx's immersive screen now.
Not sure you can find them now, but there were several fan made additions to EF1 with much added content. I still have them and still plays well in Windows 10 with Vorpx. Pretty impressive being that I first played it in Win 98 with the E-Dimensional driver and a 32mb Radion card.
I notice there is a new EF graphic overhaul mod, I've never tried here https://www.moddb.com/mods/elite-force- ... ta-release
going to try it out . Thanks again

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
Picked up the the GOG version of EF1 and tried the graphic overhaul. The graphic overhaul looks great but doesn't work with Vorpx, the game crashes with an ogl driver error with the mod installed with Vorpx enabled. Looks like I will have to try Helifax's wrapper to see the mod in 3D.
Fortunately, with the CD DRM gone, I was able to simply copy the original game to another location and run it in VR from there. This is one game that runs brilliantly on Vorpx out of the box in full VR. EF2 is the one I prefer playing in an immersive window. A warning about the other older mods. The "weapons mod", the "argus effect" "Starbase 12" they will render the original game unplayable.

I was mistaken, I played the second game and like Alice, it crashed when saving using the engines native renderer.
The only mod I used was ENB.

Another old game that I'd like to see on GOG is "Darkest of Days"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkest_of_Days
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3770 ... t_of_Days/
(removed from Steam, Demo still available atm)
Unfortunately, I could never get it to work in 3D, since it was OpenGL. The game was made by 8 Monkey Labs and unfairly received
bad reviews imo. The game isn't fantastic, but it's certainly good for an Indie studio, the voice acting was great, excluding a few lines
of rhetoric, good music and it is somewhat historically accurate. But since it bombed, the devs took their engine and licensed it for
commercial rendering. https://marmoset.co/
This would be a great IP for someone like THQ to pick up and make a sequel imho

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
Thanks again for the info, I also tried to grab the demo for Darkest of Days but looks like it's been removed as well.
Was great playing the original of Elite Force, all the fan made mods I've done to my original makes the campaign unplayable. It runs but run into crazy things like having to talk to the doctor except the doctor has mutated into a giant green orian dancing girl and she is so large her head is up in the next deck, impossible to get close enough to invoke the dialogue to continue.
The great great fan made mods were well worth it though and gave the game a long life for many. The website was called K7, the weapons mod converted the weapons and characters to original series and added a ton of original series maps for holomatch.
They also started doing a series like game called The Argas Effect, there was only a chapter finished with that one but was a real interesting concept. Another mod of theirs was Starbase 12, no action, just static characters but very interesting and relaxing. Unfortunately, it looks like the K7 website is gone, if anyone is interested in the mod I can get it too anyone who wants, unfortunately also, the GOG version is not supported by the mods and a CD is still required to authorize Here are a few 3D snapshots taken before 3D vision with what was then called NV consumer driver. OGL was much better supported then.

To get the demo, you'll need to be logged into Steam and then navigate to store page via your preferred browser. Then click the demo option and it will install.
The demo is short, it ends after the training when the portal/bubble becomes available. You can enter the bubble and get destination options, but you can
not travel to them.
Back in the day, the PhysX Benchmark within the game was one of the most brutal benchmarks around and would tank most enthusiast PCs. You can access it via the settings menu.
just click the PhysX Benchmark and it will start. On modern PCs, it's no longer a challenge. I think on my 2080ti, the old PhysX is now software emulated.
Official Nvidia PhysX effects demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vydYVKiVqV8
There was also a Star Trek game based on the Chris Pine version of Kirk. It was a huge mess when released, but was eventually patched to a playable state.
Unfortunately, it was removed from Steam, likely because the licensing expired. It was released as 3D Vision Ready and is fairly short but awesome for any
Star Trek fan. It's one of the few games that was released with a 3D version for the XBox 360.

For darkest of Days, yeah I'm logged into my account but when I click on the download button, nothing happens just returns me back to the page. I was able to search for it in Steam and found it last week, but now it no longer shows up after a search in Steam.
That Star Trek game looks great, that one slipped by me without notice. Would be real interested to find that one for sure.

I used Firefox to navigate to the page, as soon as I clicked the Demo option saying Steam is installed, it downloaded.
As stated, I was logged into my account already.
The store page, would not work, if I navigated to it within Steam. I actually have this on disc somewhere.

For Star Trek, perhaps a CD Key site or abandonware version.

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
I found a boxed copy of DOD on ebay for $5.00, think I would enjoy the time travel theme, that is of course if I manage to get it working in 3D or VR.
As for Star Trek, that's one that seems to be missing from all the reliable ROM hosts. No biggie, I can wait, one I can look forward to play in the future. My plate is full with the backlog of 3D and VR games now.
Off topic a bit but related. I just figured out the other day that the Dolphin emulator has built in 3D support. Without the help of any of my PC injectors, NV, Tridef or IZ3D, every accelerated gamecube game I've tried so far is as good if not better in 3D natively with Dolphin. Also being able to run games at a higher resolution than was possible for the system, with the PC controller of choice has really made my Christmas special. I never dreamed I'd be able to play Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 in HD3D with my trusty old Sidewinder FF stick. It may be a bit before I return to the Alpha Quadrant.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
DoD and Odd World Stranger's Wrath are both OpenGL games that I could not get to work with the wrapper from Helifax, it might be PBKAC
But if the game has strange/old shaders, his wrapper will not work.
Helifax wrote: 6y

Well I give it a quick look and well here it is:
glBindProgramARB(GL_VERTEX_PROGRAM_ARB,2)
glNamedProgramLocalParameter4fvEXT(2,GL_VERTEX_PROGRAM_ARB,0,03DFF68C)
glNamedProgramLocalParameter4fvEXT(2,GL_VERTEX_PROGRAM_ARB,1,03DFF68C)
glBindProgramARB(GL_FRAGMENT_PROGRAM_ARB,13)
Is using an ARB variant of binding shaders that is very old (around 2005 year) and that my wrapper doesn't support:(
I am not even sure how this mechanism works...Never even seen it before... This one instead of generating a Program Shader (from a VS + PS combination) is binding them independently...
Bad news is that I need to write the whole intercepting + injecting mechanism for this approach... Which might take some time to get to do it:(

Re: Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force 1 and 2
Thanks for the update, I haven't had the need to try out his opengl or vulkan driver yet. I have a lot of modern games, but they are mostly DX and work well with the solutions I have. Probably only hope to run it in 3D on Win 10 is Vorpx, no game profile for it but if there's a profile that uses the same game engine it may be possible. If not I may dig out the old P4, 7950GTX , XP box and try it on my old Z800. The game came came today, new and still sealed. It may be awhile before I get to it. Being discontinued has me leaning toward keeping it sealed and finding the ROM by other means.
Someday I really need to give that Helifax ogl and vulkan driver a try.
