Re: Intelligent standby list cleaner
Chaps, I'd be a tad sceptical...
I don't understand a lot of people's obsession with freeing up RAM. It has little to no benefit, - quite the opposite, in-fact, in all but the most fringe cases. The RAM has been paid for - why let it sit empty?
With modern Windows OS's, the entirety of the "free" RAM is filled with recently or often used files/data, which is used as cache by the OS, including texture data from games etc. It is 50x faster than reading from your SSD. If you clear this, then you're just slowing down your overall system performance. And for what? Letting your paid-for memory sit unused and do nothing?
If Windows needs this space for running apps, it will simply and intelligently clear the memory itself.
Of course, I may be mistaken - user4563 on random_forum.com said he had Uber l33t performance gains by doing this - clearly he knows more than the billion dollar teams of software expert who have intricate knowledge spanning decades, who wrote the operating system ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
