Not necessarily, what with the rise of VR and PSVR2. We need to lobby wherever possible for native 3D support, maybe well get somewhere.

Does anyone know the minimum nvidia driver required for the City Sample demo (and the final release of UE5 generally it would seem)?

I was using 451.67 (on a GTX 1080Ti) as it seemed to work well with 3D - but this gave "nanite cannot be rendered" errors in the city sample.

I upgraded to the latest driver (512.59) which seems to only be available in the DCH version - the city sample works perfectly but all things 3D are now broken. I added the 3d driver back in using 3DFM but only seem to be able to get anaglyph (I have a compatible passive monitor) and cannot run the setup wizard (error in stereocplapi) - perhaps due to it being DCH.

There are lots of driver versions in between, and likely a number of them work, but I'm hoping to find the earliest one without having to reinstall the drivers dozens of times, so hopefully someone knows a shortcut or already has it running on an earlier driver.

Many thanks for the quick reply :) I don't have the pyramid, I'm using a Zalman-compatible passive TV (which works well on the older drivers).
3DNovice wrote: Sun May 01, 2022 4:52 amTo skip the wizard, try using the 3D StartUp.bat, I think it was from b03b, it automates the process by setting the appropriate registry keys
Do you have a link for 3d startup.bat? (I was unable to find it here or on bo3b's wiki)

Also do you know if the demos work on pre-496.13 drivers?

-----------------

EDIT - Ok I think I found the batch file here https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... -settings/
However I managed to fix the anaglyph issue by changing the registry value of "StereoViewerType" from 0x00000001 to 0x00020000 (as found in a registry backup).

I'm still curious if anyone has managed to get the demos running on older (especially pre-496.13) drivers though.

Does this downloaded version have a dlss requirement? If so it might explain why it crashes on my GTX 1080Ti (even with latest nvidia drivers)

I thought that Nanite in IE 5 might be the future for VR, especially for metaverse, as it is meant to be able to work with high poly meshes, and, well the fastest way to digitize real world object is to use photogrammetry or 3d scanner. The main problem with this technology was and actually still is that to be able to use them in anything that is not prerendered we need supercomputer or we have to spend time to optimize them, which is slow.
So I've tried to load a couple of real 3dscans I got from demo projects of one of 3d scanners manufacturer and, well. Still not really useful. Some just crushed UE5 each time. So unfortunately there are still lots of work to do before we could forget of such thing like retopology.

You would likely need the newest version of W10/11 with updated runtime environments and the latest WDDM version, which you can check via the display tab in dxdiag

There's this...
Minimum and recommended hardware specifications and necessary software for developing with Unreal Engine.

Many thanks for the reply :)
My post is quite old now though and I've since set up a new PC and it's all working well :)

Tekken 8 uses UE5 and despite lack of 3D and dx12, it runs flawlessly on my 2080ti at 1440p
