Shadow Warrior 2

Post by lohan »

The fix for Shadow Warrior 2 appeared on the blog 2 weeks ago. Besides the pleasant surprise that it was done by 4everAwake (are you back?), I noticed some comments on the blog that are basically saying the game is unplayable in 3D Vision due to low fps. Has anyone here already tried the fix? Is the game playable? Are you forced to use low settings?

I haven't played it too much - just the first area to experience the S3D. But I have had no FPS issues - game looks and runs great.

In many of the outdoor areas, I was getting really low FPS drops with all graphics settings maxed. This happens even with no fixed installed. Not sure why.

The second area (outside the mansion):

3D toggled off: 105 fps
3D enabled without 3Dmigoto: 25 fps
3D enabled with fix: 20 fps
3D compatibility mode: 32 fps

CPU and GPU usage was around 60%. RAM was at 50%.

However, setting the Level of Detail to "Low" gained me an extra ~10 fps with the fix installed. No other graphics setting seem to affect framerates too much. Even lowering resolution didn't make a noticeable difference. But I'll experiment more with this.
My rig:

GTX 1070 (driver 452.06), Intel i5-6600k, 16 gigs RAM, Windows 10 (2004)

This seems to work for me...

When I reached the mansion (just after the first level - you get in a car and, after a cut-scene, you are dropped in an open area, just outside the mansion), I was seeing huge frame rate drops. I fooled around with a few settings and nothing seemed to make a difference. Then, I changed my FOV from 65 to 100 and, bam!, major improvement.

Maybe I have missed some setting which must be turned off, because I tried every setting from Low to Ultra but I get this kind of problem where shadows are off and crosshair is at screen depth.

Is someone also had this problem, because all other games are working fine.

I'm using Windows 10 with latest driver 452.06 for 3D.

It seems that fix won't engage, because pressing Caps Lock won't do anything. I have tried manually install fix & via 3DFM, but no luck.
