This game is running on DirectX 8.1b and I even reinstalled the DirectX that comes with its CD's but hit * doesn't do anything. Anyone knows the fix? Tks.

are you sure it is DX8? This game was released in Germany in 2002... DX 8.1a (with d3d8.dll) in 2002...

Yep, this time I actually knew what to expect from iZ3D 1.09 driver (ie DX8 and above only) so I really made sure

Installing a newer version of DirectX may require the system to reboot the system. Note also that you must be logged in as administrator to install a DirectX update. Also, DirectX 8.1b has been included on Gothic II Disc Three.
To start the game, simply double-click the GOTHIC II shortcut.
