Song of Horror in 3D

So I gave Song of Horror a try in 3d, it's apparently a UE4 game according to https://forums.unrealengine.com/communi ... val-horror

The game is a horror game like the old Resident Evil games but with modern graphics, and it has almost 90% positive reviews:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1096 ... OF_HORROR/

Trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20xHEYb2_Es

I downloaded the UNREAL_Engine_4_UNIVERSAL-FIX_2_V1.152 fix and dropped it in the Win64 folder, I can see the F1 HUD there, but 3d never kicks in, looks like a full screen issue, no matter what I do in the config menu, any ideas?

Doyou have tried this:

Game does not start in Stereo, even if you set fullscreen in the game options!
It may happen that 3D not kicks in and you do not have stereo enabled. In this case please open d3dx.ini and seach for "full_screen=0" (without "") and change this to full_screen=1. Save the ini and start the game. 3D should now kick in!

Also try two times pressing ALT+ENTER. Ensure full screen in game options.

That did the trick, postprocessing has some issues but setting it to low gives perfect 3D together with moving the HUD to the correct depth, really the UE4 UV2 is fantastic, a few pics:

@maleofsteel - Sorry, the posted end game save is the only save I have. As you know, the game overwrites saves as you progress through the game. No characters have been lost in this save. You can use the uploaded save to restart episode 4...

Hi!

After following these hints and several tests I am still unable to get 3D in Song of Horror. I already have around 50+ other games thar work smoothly with 3D Vision.

My environment:
  • nVidia Driver 452.06 (I have also tried older ones)
    Card: GTX1080
    3D Activated in control panel
    Resolution 1280x720 60Hz 3D / 1920x1080 24Hz 3D
    Ingame option full screen checked
    FIX: UNREAL_Engine_4_UNIVERSAL-FIX_2_V3.360
I have tried:
  • All the options in the fix config tool, included forcing fullscreen and even all the crash workarounds.
Editing manually d3dx.ini and changing force_fullscreen values.
In any case with or withoud the Universal Fix, the nVidia rating never appears, nor any of the 3D Vision hotkeys work. The Universal Fix is running, as I do get its OSD

When starting from the config tool for the firts time, the producers cover screens appeared windowed and then the game used full screen, when starting from the config tool forcing full screen, everything uses the full screen from the beginning. I suspect it is related with the game not starting in fullscreen anyway, because despite the resolution I set in ingame options, the monitor resolution won't change.

I had a similar problem with Detroit: Become Human, months ago. I only got it working when a profile was added to 3D Fix Manager downloaded from Helixmod. If I start DBH from the manager, it does work. But SOH does not have a profile, and I cannot finda clue by diving in 3D Fix Manager or DBH profile settings.

Any other idea?

I'm eager to play this title, and even more after watching Skyrimer's screenshots, but I am losing faith :'-(

I can't comment on your game problem, but whenever you use 3Dmigoto for a dx11 game, you can select Side by Side or Over/Under
to get 1080@60 and not have to settle for the 1080@24hz limit of 3DTV Play. Provided that your display supports either of these formats.
You just need to set the desired format in the d3dx.ini file

Thanks for the hint 3DNovice.

That lead me to another problem with the configurator tool. I saw the option in the fix configuration tool, [8] and then whenever I choose any option, the script stops and returns to the command line with the following ending and error:

Code: Select all

> | What do you want to do ?? [Please PRESS a Number from above] > [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9]?3
No se esperaba \Steam\steamapps\common\SongOfHorror\SongOfHorror\Binaries\Win64 en este momento.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SongOfHorror\SongOfHorror\Binaries\Win64>
which translated from Spanish would be something like:

Code: Select all

Unexpected \Steam\steamapps\common\SongOfHorror\SongOfHorror\Binaries\Win64 at this moment.

Cycling Control + T also will work in some games to get 3D to kick in, as well as Alt + Enter sometimes.

Thank you 3DNovice. I also tried that unsuccessfully. While playing with some settings, I have got a couple of times the ganr menu in 3D after pressing Control + T, but inmediately after that the game freezed. I was able to read the error message in an error window by pressing ALT+TAB, the error message was:

Code: Select all

LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown][Line:200]
Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0005 : REMOVED)
Other times with CTRL+T during the producers' cover screens, I get a flashing dual picture, but it is not a SBS picture. This sometimes remains after exiting the game and I have to change desktop resolution to get rid of it.

So I think the problem is related to
1. nVidia 3D vision not being activated at all (it never showed the rating (unknown))
2. game not starting in real fullscreen
3. game not starting in 3D (CTRL+T seems necessary)
I have noticed CTRL + F2/F3/F4/F5 won't work and values are [0]
4. game freezing when activating CTRL+T)
When it works HUD values do change from [0] to other values.

I have also tried to reinstall video drivers, and I have trie with older ones.

I am using the last version of Unreal Fix 3.60 but I have also tried with the old one 1.152, which acivates HUD with F1 instead of F2 and does not have a config tool. Results are the same.

Just installed the game and fix - the game looks super promising and the universal fix is awesome. GPU utilisation is 100%. But damn it is demanding this game. My old trusty 1080ti is hovering around 30 fps in _-inside areas with settings on high. Has anyone had any success enabling SLI on this title?

Thanks, but its all good now. Getting 60fps/1080p at max settings fairly consistently now. Must have been something on the first boot of the game. This will be a treat to play in 3d vision.
