Cheap way to rip Blu-ray 3D Movies

Post by Dom »

I would like to rip some of my Blu-ray 3d movies to .mp4 SBS. I know I can use DVDFab and it costs for a subscription around $40 US but I was wondering if you guys found a free way. I can get a copy of the DVDFab Blu-ray ripper for around $50 but if I could save the money since I only need to rip a few discs.

I heard MKV files are a thing but I really want to stick to .mp4 h264 or h265 codec.

Just as a question - why mp4 (especially if you are rdy for h265)? I usually go .... no, not mkv, but iso for 3D Movies for full quality.

With mkv it would be way easier / with free tools, f.e. I did save the link to: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/191-3d-d ... yback.html (it's 2018, I dunno if those tools can rip to mp4 too now).

I found .mp4 the best especially if I want to use SVP4 with ffdshow. Matroska Movie format seems like its made for hacking. I always thought there was a virus included with the codec and files.

Funny theres no open-source movie decoding ripper on the internet. Seems like its all pay as you go.

Virus included? Is that some brainwashing by the content industry? If u'd know how funny it sounds. :D MKV's range of encoding tools is simply caused by the feature- and licence set. MP4 is an proprietary standard (check fees), MKV is opensource. And with x.264/5 set there are also better encoding options - license free of course. Compatibility was once a topic but with the right encoding settings and nowadays modern hardware even mobile devices have no problem playing 4k60HDR content.

As for the os ripping - I mean up to what - 2years? - there was not even a pure decoder/player out for free supporting 3D MVC. This is also a license topic as 3D MVC comes with high fees. So reverse engineering needed to be done, but none of the decoders were rdy, there first was effort to rewrite ffmpeg, then Lavfilters came to exist and so on. But I didn't say there is non out, as I didn't look for it, just posting a saved link. I believe this is what you've been looking for (supports 3D MKV and can convert to mp4):

Hey, so I found out that eBay sells DVDFab software for cheap. I got a package for $4.50 or something like that, for a lifetime key. I know these work because I have bought windows cd keys and they work too.
