What is OSVR "Image Quality Enhancement"?

Image quality enhancement is listed as a feature of the OSVR headset, but I haven't found any other information on it.
Someone else guessed that it was a diffuser placed on the OLED displays so there would be an apparent higher fill-factor because of the scattered light.
Is this correct?
