Congrats!

As per Specs Your phone do have Gyro which is minimum requirement for VR other than good processor (i hope you haven't purchased non gyro version as its also there, if you had then its trouble).
Though Snapdragon 615 has bad heating issues, hope you will not much face them since asus is better hardware compared to other SD615 devices but i like to read your personal exp.
For Phone based VR taste i would advice following apps as must.
1) To use as home
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... demo&hl=en
2) What cardboard can offer..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .designlab
Other apps i highly recommend
VR Cosmic Roller Coaster
Caaaaardboard!
Tilt Brush Gallery
Proton Pulse Google Cardboard
Lamper Cardboard: First Flight
Vanguard V Google Cardboard
Tuscany Dive
Titans of Space® Cardboard VR
Zombie Shooter VR
Sisters
360 Video App i Recommend as MUST HAVE
Star Wars VR
The North Face: Climb
Since you cant use GEAR VR the best available options are as i can suggest..
Near Official Design of Version 2 by google_And has interaction capacitive touch button

These are sturdy plastic build but you won't get capacitive touch button to interact hence small BT joystick highly recommended.

This is good CHEAP and BASIC controller which worked for me almost good

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 laser HMD goggles
Thanks for the Help. I checked out the links you posted. Amazon would not ship to my address but I found a seller in my city on ebay.
look here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/VR-BOX-Virtual-R ... 1907705246?
This is the headset I bought, it was $37.99 and says it can do 1000 inches screen from 3 feet which is okay I guess.
I should be getting it in a week or so, I will post again and tell you what I think of it.
This is the exact phone model I bought http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_se ... l-7261.php
It says it has a gyro, I'm not sure what the heating issue will do, fry my phone.

No heating will not "Fry" your mobile but SD615 really gets considerably warm... Its just that after VR Play you can put it in your upper pocket
and roam around in snow it will keep you warm...
I was suggesting VR BOX Version 2, but then i read again " bought " so its fine...
Good decision to buy with BT controller..
Hv fun..& Do post once you have done tinkering...

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 laser HMD goggles
Hi, so I got my Vr headset now and have been trying it out with some of those apps you listed. The first one I tried was Vr rollercoaster and I was amazed by the big screen and head tracking, (theres no wires to get in the way too) so it was really cool.
I tried the Titans of space, Tuscany Dive, Zombie shooter Vr, Lamper Vr and put on Cardboard.
Now what I am missing is setting my headset with that box upc code to identify which Vr headset I am using, so I am not sure where to get that box code picture from. And since I am using the wrong sidebyside image on my phone setting its giving me black edges on the sides of these Vr goggles, so its not as immersive.
Do you know anything that I could do to fix this with the Vr headset I have VR box ver.1
I found the QR codes on the net and found one for the Vr box ver.1 I will have to test more...
It is still pretty decent for using a phone and extra goggles, I'm glad I got this and have to show my brother. I showed my brother and he thought it was cool
After about 5-10 minutes my phone was warm but not hot, it cooled down fast when I stopped the Vr gfx. I don't think its anything to worry about but I will keep an eye on it. And since my phone is curved at the back, the phone does not sit in the Vr cradle flatly, it slides around a bit so its a little harder to place properly in the cradle to then slide it into the googles.
It works though and pretty good, even the display is crisp and clear and mostly smooth around 30 or more fps.
-----------------------------------
I also wanted to see if you heard of Trinus Vr for cardboard and you pc with usb tethering for oculus games or pc games with headtracking. If you have tried this what did you think of it with a Cardboard Vr headset..

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 laser HMD goggles
For QR Code TRY one attached herewith.
I did tried Trinus Vr for cardboard It worked with various degree of success for various games.
I would suggest games with Minimal or No HUD as its most distracting, also you want to keep maximum zoom out else you will feel like
your nose is being pocked in back of your avatar, not a good way to play.
Also in traditional games there are many other issues makes it hard to enjoy in VR, as i have old game James Cameron's Avatar of 2009 no matter which ever vehicle
i try it gets me motion sick in VR either i have to quit vehicle, else remove headset.
Games which looked decent in Trinus VR was Dead Space 2,3 which has absolute no HUD all info on your avatar and gun a good 3rd person view is less dizzying then FPV at-least for me.
else in most games its HUD which bug you other than glitches which are result of software not being made from scratch for VR. I did tried DISHONORED but full of glitches technical and
locomotive as well as implementation, also it made me sick very fast.
Other thing i highly recommend in Trinus + Cardboard is Elite Dangerous and Euro Truck Simulator 2
see this videos for some motivation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZDSn6T5yIU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bH46VKHLUM
As game was from scratch made for VR so most of the times things are what they should be or you expect them to be compare to older games.

Gorilla Glass of Laser is less Scratch proof but scratches can happen in gorilla glass too.. Just use a proximity cut screen guard or tempered glass ..

@Dom
Isn't Iphone Gorilla Glass already Scratch proof?
(regardless if she had sprayed amor or not its basically scratch resistant, that's why its called gorilla glass)
The other product girl was scratching was plastic screen guard and its scratchable...
So video is in some way false advt.
Nice girl though cross between 'penelope cruz' and 'Anne Hathaway'
How was your experiments with Trinus VR turned out? Have you really enjoyed it?

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 laser HMD goggles
Yes this phone I have zenfone 2 laser has gorilla glass like iPhone gorillia glass 3 or 4 something like that. I got the liquid armor anyways, the salesman at the store said it was worth it.
So trinus vr was not as good as I thought it would be. I used the usb tethering and it was laggy so I could not see it working good. I wanted to play dirt3 with it and was not playable at the framerate I was given with trinus vr and then the program said to use 800x600 and that was still laggy.
I got moonlight installed on my phone and I tried to get Vireio to work with dirt3 but it never did and I don't know how I would get headtracking with moonlight too. I need a good tutorial on how to set my Vr headset with a pc with good framerates.

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 laser HMD goggles
I have official Tridef Drivers provided by LG for my Monitor, i set output to SBS and as i was using Chinese Cardboard clone which does not introduce much distortion(*Same like VRBOX*)i hadDom wrote: the program said to use 800x600 and that was still laggy.
turned off distortion correction, i did set resolution to 1280X720, you need high quality USB cable though i tried two, three different the most expensive one worked the best.
Try USB 3.0 Port its little fast.
After doing all this, i was still unsatisfied with result..
Moonlight do need NVIDIA Card (GTX 660 or later) and latest GeForce Experience drivers installed to work, I hope you did same before establishing connection.
