Just came across a recent grant announcement for Euclideon from the Australian Government.

This sounds very interesting.

It may have something to do with the commercialisation of Euclideon's Holoroom.

maybe Euclideon is collaborating with NIntendo.
the new console nx is said to have graphics superior to ps4 games.
I wonder how they could achieve that?
Euclideon also said one year ago that people would be surprised if they find out on which platform it is going to be.
it would be fully 3d. Maybe Nintendos NX is a new Virtuaboy?

Nintendo are very protective of their intellectual property.

It seems they stick very closely with console and handheld gaming.

I doubt they will go to external partners unless it was something related to the core of their business.

On the other hand, the Euclideon Hologram Room is an inverted virtual reality experience.

Instead of wearing the glasses, you wear the room, or cave.

The advantage of a cave over glasses, is the reduced rotational dependency of the graphics.

In other words, the world stays fairly still but your head turns freely without the motion artifacts or motion sickness.

Translational viewing still needs to be dealt with though, in the conventional graphical ways.

Another advantage of Euclideon is 'unlimited detail' combined with stereovision.

Its a good way to bundle the unlimited detail technology in a packaged commercial/industrial/entertainment product.

I suspect Nintendo will use head tracking of some kind in future consoles.

They have already demonstrated aspects of it in the DS, New 3DS and revealed other details in recent patent literature.

Personally, I would like to see a 3DS visor where the 3DS screen was worn on the face like google cardboard, but combined with a separate touch screen hand controller.

Clearly, the 3DS is a commercial success, and much of the whining about the 3DS causing vision problems, have subsided.

Hi,

Looks like Euclideon are going into the theme park entertainment business.

The first Euclideon Hologram Room installation - known as Holoverse - will be built in Southport on the Gold Coast.

This is located 80km south of Brisbane, in Australia.

It is expected to be open at the end of March 2016 (not April 1 apparently).

The article appeared recently in the Gold Coast Bulletin on December 19, 2015.
