Is there an issue with Minecrift Xbox controller support?

Hey all, Is there an issue with Minecrift Xbox controller support?
Most recent version from what I can tell. Minecrift 1.8.1 PRE2 VR
I can't tell what I'm doing wrong or if it's a bug. I found the option under VR settings to enable controller but in the map keys window they all show up greyed out and I can't choose any of them.
Is this a known issue or am I missing something.
None of the key remap choices are clickable.

I tried asking on reddit with no joy . Anyone else able to help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'd rather not use somethign like xpadder or joy2key if I don't have to. :/
