As a complete kit (monitor, cords, boards) with HDMI port at a $50 price tag...
It is apparently designed for Raspberry PI applications, but considering the two monitor plugs I don't see why this couldn't be adapted for a DIY HMD on a WIN7 system.
Although I've been playing with an HD tablet and Splashtop Streamer I find that the latency really blows at times. This will probably be nowhere near as crisp of a display, but for the sake of latency it might be a good tradeoff for a little $100< project.
What do you guys think?

I'm thinking this:
(Yay3d viewer+ lenses)
plus this
plus this
(gyro mouse for motion tracking)
plus this
plus this
and pieces of this....
will equal cheapy, sorta crappy but functional HMD to toy around with Veiro Perception or similar apps. About $120... hmm maybe not all that cheap, but you get the idea.

Resolution is too low IMHO, unless you are planning on a monoscopic system.
With the prices of DK1's being under $150 in my country, I'd simply get one of those and save yourself the hassle.

7 inch 800* 480!!!!! Now Offense, but that will be horrible on the eyes. At 7 inches screen then splitting the image in two, then take in consideration the wasted pixels not use for rendering actual material, you will get screen door the size of mountains.
Either get a 1080, 1200 display, or buy a second hand dk1 as suggested already
