Oculus Rift VR and Sony’s Project Morpheus show emerging technology deserves another look, but there’s still some work to be done to smooth out the rough edges.

If this is gaming's next wave, then don't ride it on a full stomach.

This was my rather queasy first thought when I finally experienced virtual reality a few months ago at the Electronics Entertainment Expo. It's headed to gaming in the coming years, fueled by hopes of crafting more immersive experiences, and powered by names both big (Sony's Project Morpheus drew plenty of attention at E3) and small (the independent Oculus Rift VR unit has been picking up steam).

But none of that makes VR an instant hit, and after testing a few devices, I'm not quite sure it will ever truly be a must-have gadget in your gaming arsenal.
