Gears of War - Works. Some light effects at wrong depth.

I only tried that game.
As long as a game works in one mode, it should work in any mode. That includes interlaced.

Doesn't for me. GT Legends for example works in anaglyph but won't even start in interlaced.

Well I tried some of the games on Vista and some that work don't work, some that didn't work, load a little before crashing. Basically, it's a mess that needs fixing.

BTW, I'm on Vista 64 bit.

Neverwinter nights 2 - works well
I only tried one minute. The game did not crash. Everything seemed at the right depth. The menus and OSD were at screen depth.

Crysis (32 bit exe) - Unstable. Sometimes crashes after the loading just after you press a key to make the level appear. Sometimes crashes after changing the resolution. Sometimes crashes during gameplay. I was not able to activate the laser sight. The menus were at screen depth.

There's something I forgot to tell about Gears of war. I was able to activate the laser sight. It was able about half the time to correctly adjust its depth on the target and the rest of the time it was less deep.

The Witcher - Works. Half of the OSD separates and changes depth. I loaded a save where the character was drunk and the S-3D worked while drunk (everything turns around you and you see doubled :D).
I only played a minute. The game did not crash during that time.

Doesnt work using Zalman monitor (interlaced horizontal) and Windows XP 32bits. I have two images (one per eye), but it is not stereo. Would be great if any other with Zalman post his experience to be sure.

I have try with Fear, Tomb Raider Legends, F1 Challenge 99-02, and Half life episode 2. All these games works very well but only using anaglyph type.

Thanks, ctrl+F8 solve all and now interlaced works here like Anagliph (I must test with planar later too because I had the same problem).

Here works very well: tomb raider anniversary, f1 challenge 99-02, COD 4, Fear, Half life 2 episode2, Assassins Creed,

Doesn´t work: Richard burns rally (crash to desktop when * is pressed), Live for speed alpha (* does nothing), GTR Evolution (* does nothing), Oblivion (crask to desktop 3 seconds after * is pressed), Blade of darkness and Doom 3 (* does nothing - opengl games).

Tested with planar and doesn´t work. The problem is that choosing planar does not mirror anything, so it seem to be like dual proyector output. I hope it will be supported soon.

Do you think some quality settings could be interfering with the lasersight? I'll experiment with increasing them and decreasing them to see if I can make it work.

EDIT : I tried again and I get no lasersight in Crysis and I get one in Gears of War.

got a few working

Post by moddy »

So far I have gotten Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft to work very well on my system--using Another Eye shutters on the interlaced (horizontal) setting, looks very good but I'm no expert in these stakes--WoW looked tons better than WC3 but then the WC3 graphics are so cartoonish anyway---

GTA San Andreas worked very well too, I was going through the list of games with profiles and these are the only ones I own that were on the list.

Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth doesn't work (game.dat crashes) in any of the flavors of that series (original, 2, or the Witch King expansion).

I'm running Vista 32 bit on an 8400GS nvidia card from EVGA, overclocked a bit using the EVGA utility that came with the card.. The nvidia driver I'm using is 177.92 --I couldn't get anything to work at all on the original iz3d beta until I uninstalled the old Nvidia stereo drivers (not that they worked anyway).

As others have mentioned, nothing worked today until I uninstalled the original beta drivers, restarted, installed the beta 2 driver, then I was good to go (oh I think there was a restart after that too, can't remember).

I'm very new to this whole 3d business, just got the Another Eye shutters last week--can anyone tell me does the "simple shutter" appear much better than the interlaced does? I like the effect of course but I have a very hard time reading text on the interlaced setting, does the simple shutter offer better image clarity? I would very much appreciate anyone's input/opinions on this. Thanks!

Oh also, playing WoW in 3d really really made my day when I got it to work. The battlegrounds were just so much fun!

Better image clarity to read text and higher brightness.

Awesome! Those are my only two gripes. I've got my fingers crossed they get the bugs worked out. Thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah, shutterglasses is so much brighter and better, I can compare them with minimal details to keep the sync and everytime I go back to interlaced I think something is broken, must always increase brightness.

It's the resolution. At 1024x768 or lower, the lasersight does not appear. At higher resolutions, it appears.

Hi Everyone,

I got interlaced working on my LCD with ED glasses. I am running Vista 32, Nvidia 8600GT on my Laptop. The LCD I am using is Acer 24" 1920x1200 at 60hz with rgb vga cable. I used ED-activator to turn on the glasses and interlace the screen. I then turned on Iz3d stereo interlaced horizontal. Visually I can hardly see the interlace because the pixel size is so small on my 24". So far I have tested successfully:

Company of Heroes (fullscreen)
Cortona Vrml-for visualizing 3D objects (windowed)
Google Earth-Works but had trouble with getting correct separation-It changes as you zoom in. (windowed)

I also have a question. I am seeing 3D as good as anaglyph and others but there is a significant amount of flicker from the shutterglasses-perhaps the low refresh rate. I am not sure if this is normal when using interlaced or whether the shutter glasses are not synching perfectly with the vga output. Anyone successfully using shutterglasses for the interlaced please post your visual experiences also. I also have the cheap AnotherEyes but they are the same polorization as the screen so they can only be used by tiltling your head.

Thanks,

Neil Smith

The shutter glasses work at the same frequency as the monitor in interlaced mode. That means that the flicker is very noticeable at a refresh rate of 60 Hz. That's why you get less flicker with crt monitors because you can use them at 120 Hz.
