I figured full-res 4K 3D was too much to ask, but that would indicate 1080P@60 3D would be not a problem anymore.

It wasn't blocked by HDMI though, 1080p 3D at 120Hz was already possible within the HDMI 1.4 spec and HDMI transmission chips supporting this have been available for more than a year, but nobody implemented it. I don't know if it's a required mode in the 2.0 spec (doubt it), but considering that 4K seems to be the new flagship for display manufacturers I've pretty much lost all hope.

Yes, but if the vendors upgrade the chips to support 4K, that would mean we would have the bandwidth for 1080P60 3D thus it should work since it's still in the spec.

Here is what I found about new TVs :
LG 84LM9600 : passive 3D, no detailed specs
Panasonic TC-58AX800U : 4K but not 3D it seems
Panasonic TC-L65WT600 : active 3D, 4K60p, no detailed specs
Panasonic TC-60AS650U : 3D, no specs yet
Vizio : no 3D TVs
Sony KD-84X9005 : passive 3D, 3840x2160@30Hz, no detailed specs

So the trend is toward passive 3D and 4K, which means basically full HD at 30Hz but not at 60Hz. The only hope would be the TC-L65WT600 active 3D from Panasonic, but there are no detailed specs yet.

Too bad. Anyway, I'm happy w/ my 720P 3D projector for now. It looks fine.

The PANASONIC TX-L65WT600E provide HDMI 2.0 and display port 1.2a is active 3D and have the bandwidth for 2500*1600@60Hz but it is true that this is not detailed.
