What is interesting is the major steps forward have been from the passion of individuals like Palmer and the like. Not necessarily from a large corporations!

Pretty ignorant article in my opinion and a great example of 'lazy journalism'
The majority of that period of VR was Pre 'Google' so no opportunity to just cut and paste from websites or Wikis. So that's just a regurgitation of what I assume was a NASA press release with absolutely no research into the other equipment mentioned from VPL and absolutely no mention of Virtuality, other than a cheap dig at what was their first game which I'm sure would have had graphics either on a par if not better than the NASA simulations.
People forget that comparable computer games were no less 'blocky' and indeed not even real-time. Virtuality do not get the recognition they deserve, they were years ahead of anyone else and it's only now people are picking up on ideas they developed over 20 years ago.

6 million pixels per eye!!! Wow that is great! Can you imagine what that is like? 166 Degrees of View is not bad either.
You know ALOT of stuff NASA does filters out into the consumer space eventually. Sounds like sic-fi is sci-fact soon when it comes to VR.

I really hope Bas Lansdrup considers for his mass media Mars One mission VR broadcasting.
That could really bring them the billions they need.
