Hi guys!

This is my first post as I recently discovered this awesome forum, and I wanted to talk to you about a project and ask for suggestions!
I have an oculus rift and wanted to create a full FPS experience in virtual reality, so I have started with the gun. So far Im using a Nerf Gun and an Arduino and it is going very well!
The first chapter is here: http://mephistofiles.blogspot.co.uk/201 ... oller.html and cover the cables and plastic stuff. I am just done with the programming side and should update it soon.

My biggest concern now is the tracker, as I want this to be very low budget I would love to use an android phone attached to the gun and sending over Wifi the data to the game. Any suggestions here?

Ok I just found out about freePie! I am giving that a chance and will come back here when the Android and Arduino code is ready to go :D

Edit: Yeee Haw! It is working thanks to this post: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=139&t=16286 now I can Aim and fire!

Next step will be pairing the Arduino via Cable to the Android tablet (right now they connect using USB and Wifi respectively) and have an unified wifi interface input to the PC

PS: By the way, maybe I put this in the wrong forum, because it is all DIY but not a HMD (but very related imo)
PS2: This forum is awesome :woot

Cool project. Just wondering how you're planning on using this. Is it to be for waling around, standing in place and swinging left and right or full 360 degree rotation?
If it's just for some smallish movements left and right, it could be worth considering putting a wiimote in it and mount some IR lights in the general direction you'll be pointing it.
Regarding making it wireless, the blutooth modules for arduino are pretty cheap these days:
