Working great with Dirt 2 & 3, but GRiD (same engine)?

Hi guys,

As I have documented in another thread (http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpbb/viewtopic.p ... 94#p129200), I have been having a fantastic time playing both Dirt 2 and 3 this past week using Vireio. As far as I am concerned the experience is almost perfect, save for the shadow issues, but this is easily fixed by turning shadows to lowest setting and the games still look great.

Now there is another codemasters EGO engine game called GRiD that also features great cockpit cameras and I would love to get this working also. I have tried creating a new profile for it, using the same 601 mode as both DiRT games use. The game does boot up ok, the intro movies play fine in side by side view, but then the screen goes black.

I figured that since all three games use the EGO engine that they might all work the same in Vireio, but no luck.

Any ideas?

A good first approximation would be to try mode 0, the 'mono' setting. Does that work? I would check but i leave for a trip in 12 hours so won't be back at my desktop for 2 weeks.

I know exactly why this is, and I have fixed it for the next version of Vireio. However, due to all the other changes I'm in the middle of the build where it is fixed is only working in mono and a lot of other stuff is broken.

I'm hoping to have an experimental version of this build in a usable state in about 2 weeks.

Awesome news man! I have plenty to keep me busy in the meanwhile, but I am really glad that GRiD will be working in a future build. It's a real shame that Codemasters have taken out the cockpit cam from the just released GRiD 2 as that would have also been an amazing experience in the Rift.

Can't wait anyway, keep us posted.

The actual game seems to work just fine, with headtracking and everything. I was able to get through the black screen on the menus by continuously pressing A. I got into the 24 hours of le mans in what appears to be some sort of F1 car.

It's a pity they ditched the cockpit view in GRID 2. That has been one of my favorite things about Codemasters racing games, and with the Rift, I think cockpit view will be used by a lot more than 5% of players.

I just dont get 3d , i get one image even with Vireoro on. Please help,

GRiD doesn't work in the menus in Mode 600 but the game part works wonderfully if you blind navigate the menu!

It might work with another mode (301 was the EGO mode wasn't it?)

I'll be looking into this when I get some spare time but I'm kinda swamped with PhD work just now, looks like ChrisJD may be on the issue already though :)
