Connect the Rift HID device to VMWare player

Post by CyberVillain »

My dev. env. is located on a VM Ware machine. I want to be able to debug the Rift tracker so I need to connect the USB device to my WM ware machine but I get a "The device is currently in use".

Anyone that successfully connected the device to VM ware? Or knows how to disconnect it from the host PC.
Its not listed under safe remove so cant disconnect from there

I have no problems with VirtualBox. You can run VMWare images in VBox I think (or convert them). If you do not get this working in VMWare, you might consider trying VirtualBox. When you tell VBox to use the Tracker DK device, it disappears from the host OS and appears in the guest OS.

I bet there are automatic rules you can apply. So what about making the rule by hand first, then connect the rift?
