Samsung DLP tv in Europe?

Post by Sjonnie »

Hi everybody,

I saw this beautiful 3d ready tv from Samsung: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HL50A650- ... =de_a_smtd

In my nvidia stereo control panel there is also an option for Samsung 3d Ready, and when I use that it really gives a checkpattern.
So I think this could perfectly work with NVidia drivers.

Anyway, I can't find it anywhere in Europe, can someone help me please?

Greetings,

I am not sure about the availability of the this model in Europe but am very curious what driver version you are using that shows "Samsung 3D Ready"?

I use the latest beta driver (174.76 or something like that) + 175.19 (latest WHQL or something like that).
Isn't it standard? I remember I once only had the option of Red/Blue and Zalman.
(I got a Zalman, really love it, but I think 50" would be better xD)

I think I also remember I once saw a registry hack by which you could enable check pattern, I think I did run it. I'll look if I can find where I found it.

Edit: Haven't found it yet. Could it also be caused by the 162.50 drivers on my XP (I got a dual boot system)?

If it's realy called cheacerboard pattern or 3D ready in it, than it has to be new and not 'hacked'.

The hack changed the older things like interlaced to cheackerboard...

The DLP TV's were once used to demo the NV drivers, so it could be possible...

I assume, you need Vista to test it, but maybe someone else can confirm :-)

- And I have not seen a DLP 3D ready TV anywhere around here :-(
Importing seems to be no good Idea, but maybe a 3D ready plasma is available?

From what I understand, having a Zalman will unlock some of the other modes that Nvidia doesn't want to release yet (for whatever reason). Its not just the driver version.

Kerner 3d display

Samsung 3d Ready DLP HDTV
Vertical Interleaved (SeeReal)

Anaglyph
Arisawa 3D display --> what is that??? has to be new :-)
CRT with shutterglasses --> I know this one... will it be back soon?
Direct 3-Pin DIN VESA Connect --> I think it's old, too, but don't know what to do with it :-(
Kerner 3d display --> what is that??? has to be new :-)
Mitsubishi 3d DLP HDTV --> Great news
Samsung 3d Ready DLP HDTV --> Great news
Vertical Interleaved (SeeReal) --> This is old, too. I think it is 'just' vertikally interleaved
Zalman 3d Display --> officially released already

Arisawa 3D display --> (oldish screen) Hyundai Screens (aka Arisawa / Xpol) http://www.inition.co.uk/inition/produc ... ubCatID_=3

Kerner 3d display --> (oldish - 8th article down) http://www.stereoscopy.com/news/news-ar ... -2007.html

- however it would be really cool if they do give support for any or all of these :)

Oh sorry didn't know that names, but I remember the hunday screens - didn't they anounce BIG (DLP?) TVs?

Well since they use interlaced, like Zalman and they are relativly new/modern I don't see a reason for NV to not support them - especially, if they payed some $ for convincing...

However what does the Shutterglasses type do there? Did ED or Vizuix pay them? Maybe they see it as good 'test platforms' for low budget people - similar to Anaglyph :?

about that Hunday thing:
Do you know, if thier DRIVER does anything for S-3D???
I mean if you don't own the monitor, but something else? Could it enable more outputs like interlaced?
I tried on XP, but it doesn't change anything as far as I see...

I don't think so. It appears that its just a standard monitor driver and is not having to do with stereo3d. Those Hyundai's still needed the TriDef drivers for stereo.

Maybe the'll do something when NV drivers are released officially... maybe it changes the right thing in the regestry??
I can't test, cause I have no Vista - and it's not officially anounced.
