"“Astigmatism I could correct for with a fragment program,” Carmack told me without skipping a beat. This is the world we live in; your vision problems can be solved in software. "
I was just reading this article on Penny-Arcade: http://penny-arcade.com/report/editoria ... ange-the-w
I admit this is something that still bothers me - my eye doctor told me I can't wear contacts because I would start to look cross eyed ... I wonder what spending a lot of time in the Rift will do to me.
Is Carmack right? Can we have additional corrections in software? I have not thought about it before, but it does make sense that it is possible.
I guess this is a question directed at Oculus - will you implement it?

It has been reported that wavefront display technology can even correct for cataracts:GeraldT wrote:"“Astigmatism I could correct for with a fragment program,” Carmack told me without skipping a beat. This is the world we live in; your vision problems can be solved in software. "

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say third party implementation and all the liability and other issues can remain with the third party or self install aspects, and Oculus can be kept completely out of it.
