Need advice to power Sony HMZ-T1 from battery power - UK

Hi,

First time poster be kind!

I'm a university researcher trying to create a mobile HMD set-up with the Sony HMZ-T1. I'm using this mod as a guide https://sites.google.com/site/vrsetup/H ... rdware-set

But I'm in the UK, so I need 240v.

1) Can I just replace the power convertor with a 240v version?
2) If so will any convertor do - do I have to worry about current output?
3) Any idea why in that mod the willy cable is necessary - the green socket on the energizer is 12v output anyway?

Any help gratefully received, I'm electrically dumb.
