New video glasses that support 720p

Does anyone have any news on how good these virtual video glasses are they support 720p and came out near the end of last year.
Also if anyone has a name for it can you let me know?

I have no experience with those glasses, but they don't sound too bad actually.

If the specs are correct (which maybe I doubt) the headset would have an 80 degrees horizontal FOV. Sounds bogus to me, but if true would be awesome.

I've been gong back and forth on buying these or accupix mybud or the hmzt1 next month the 98'' one is 399 on ebay as a lowest price

it also says supports 720p, so does that mean it will look just like a 720p picture, because the resolution of the lens is 480p, this is what's confusing me

In terms of the resolution, it will not look like an HD image because the native resolution is not HD. It will simply down-scale a 720P image to 480P. I would be willing to be these use the same displays as in the Vuzix 1200 and, to be honest, that quality was not very good. For a portable player I guess it would be acceptable, but its just not true HD quality.

I'm thinking the 98'' one would be good for me to use because if the screen is far back enough from my eyes i might not even be able to tell the difference from the 480p and 720p qualities, thats usually how I am with dvds to. Do you know anything about the accupix mybud? They have a 100'' screen with full hd resolution with HDMI but I'm not sure if the company that created them is legit.

They are NOT full HD resolution, they are the same WVGA as the 98" ones from ebay.

the highest field of view is better right? or does it just depend on the screen size it displays?

Have you tried the Sony 3d viewer before? if you did did you notice any lines on the picture because I already have a 32" vizio hd tv and I was watching something in 720p to see the difference and I always saw lines in some fast moving objects or people

Yeah, the higher FOV is better. The simulated screen size is just a marketing term really. However I seriously doubt that first headset is really 80 degrees FOV, that would be massive and I feel like we would have heard about it before if that were true (unless my math is wrong, but I don't think so).

I have the Sony HMD. There are no lines on it, I'm not sure what you are seeing.

Can you make a lens demo on the hmz and record the screen for me so I can see how big the screen is? I've tried it on at the store but only for a minute because I ddin't have time to stay there

Not sure what a video will prove. You can't actually get a feel for the screen size unless you see it with your own eyes.

ok, also people say it hurts the forehead if you just wear a boxing headband around your head could that relieve the pressure?

Never seen those before, but I'd be willing to bet they are using the same displays as the other glasses (probably the Vuzix 1200 as well).

In terms of the Sony HMZ: it's pretty uncomfortable to wear and not at all portable. The quality is nice otherwise, just not fun to wear.

The first glasses you posted seemed to be the best ones, though I still think maybe they are lying about the FOV.

By the way the cool thing about the accupix mybud is that you can convert anything your using with them to 3d not sure what kind as I hate 3d anaglyph because it hurts my eyes

Actually he said that he'd like a 90 degree angle, and that those glasses didn't provide it.

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say they were between 30-40 degrees FOV (probably on the lower-end of that too).

The Sony HMZ is going to have a screen that's about twice that size.

I'll just buy the hmz then and mod it people sell cushions for it now that make it comfortable to wear plus someone has been holding one on ebay for me for $650 for a brand new one

Well the HMZ is going to be a lot better then those generic headsets. Aside from the comfort issues, I think you will be happy with the quality.

yeah I was thinking that I could buy a fuzzy boxing headband and wear it while I'm using it to relieve the pressure from the pad this won't be my first hmd I have the myvu basic but its really crappy

Yeah, I've played games on it. Its fun.

In terms of being like a theater screen: yes and no. I mean, compared to cheaper HMDs the screen on the Sony is really big. And in terms of FOV its probably around being in the middle to back of an average theater. But it still doesn't feel like the massive screen you'd expect from the marketing and advertisements. But its certainly big enough to enjoy playing games on it, and still probably bigger than your average 22-24" monitor.

a reviewer said the accupix mybuds were like you were sitting 10 rows back in a theater what would the field of view be for that?

The mybuds are around 35 degrees, I believe. The HMZ is around 50, which ends up being around twice the total screen size.

well the lens on these are 480p but they support full hd with a mini hdmi to hdmi cable, you can connect them to any hdmi game console or even your iphone/smartphone, do you think it would be 3d like on 3d tv's where its blurry until you put the glasses on?

I think what I'll do is just buy an hd 2d to 3d converter from amazon that people use for 3d tv's and get the sony hmzt1, that way I can play games that are in 2d in 3d on it!

To be honest all the 2D->3D conversion software I've seen is crap, but I know some people like it.

I would not buy a set of glasses just for this feature and, like you said, there are conversion boxes you can buy if you really want that.

3x bigger than what? Its all relative.

Are you looking at that video on your phone? Or on a 100" projection screen? Obviously that effects the answer.

I will say the image looks large, like a normal size big screen TV. Certainly big enough for most purposes (i.e movies or games).
