GeForce Release 175.19

Post by cybereality »

The 175.19 WHQL Nvidia driver is out. One of the release highlights: "Supports NVIDIA GeForce 3D Stereo Technology."

XP:

Vista 32-bit

Vista 64-bit

I just tried it out on Vista 32-bit and it seems it may be a bit slower than the 175.16 drivers. I only ran a few tests, just giving you guys a heads up.

EDIT: Ok, I just tried Crysis and it ran great. I also overclocked my GPU so I'm sure that helped (w/ this program, very handy). I could play on all High settings @ 1360 x 768 getting a smooth 30FPS. Even Very High across the board was a very playable 40FPS at 800x600 resolution. So maybe this driver has some optimizations for Crysis, I don't know. Still need to test more, but these results are encouraging.

I've just installed Vista 64 so this release has come at a very opportune time for me, as a complete first-timer to this stereo lark. However, don't seem to be able to get it to work yet. Installed the driver, installed the stereo control panel, but the thing doesn't seem to work yet. I try to enable it in the stereo cpl, but it only gets as far as saying "only anaglyph stereo is available for this display" in red writing on the screen, but doesn't then go on to display anything else in stereo. Where should I look to try to tweak this into working?

Please try the 174.74 drivers since they seem to have better compatiblity. I was getting the same glitch on some games with the newer drivers so I downgraded back to 174.74.

Also note these drivers this will only work for anaglyph (red/blue) glasses and the Zalman monitor. Other solutions are not supported at the moment.

Thanks for the advice - managed to get it working in the end. I came across a coulpe of problems along the way. Firstly, the 174.74 WHQL drivers wouldn't recognise my card, but the BETA ones would - that confused me for a while. Then I found out that I wasn't fully uninstalling the old drivers. I had to uninstall using the normal windows driver uninstall methods, then additionally run the guru3d driversweeper app (http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=driversweeper) to clean up any remains of the other drivers. Once I did this and reinstalled the BETA drivers it all worked fantastically.

I'm lucky enough to have two identical Dell 24" monitors, so will be watching for the option of doing the mirror-down-the-middle configuration if it becomes available soon...
