Hehe, every time I think of a question, Neil asks it about a minute later!

You definitely would NOT want to put some things on the RAM disk. Save files jump to mind. Why? Because if your computer crashes or if power goes out before you save the RAM disk to something real then the changes you made are gone. It should be a great place to install games, though. A game that fits inside 4 gigs, anyway. (Skyrim with mods takes up 11 gig on my machine. XCOM is 12. Alice: Madness Returns is 8. Hmmmm... well Fallen Enchantress almost fits....)

I used RAM disks a lot back on my Atari ST. A RAM disk may be faster than an SSD but it's WAY WAY faster than a floppy disk! ;)

If I had enough RAM, I'd definitely use it for encoding movies. That is probably a major time saver.
