ACQUATICO: Online (3D) ocean exploration robot

I just noticed this Kickstarter project called ACQUATICO. They want to build robotic submarines to enable people to explore the ocean through the Internet.

If you scroll down on the Kickstarter page they have an image of someone wearing a Sony HMD, and it says "We will offer a 3D version for limited backers to enjoy a fully immersive experience."

On latency they say: "We will optimize everything for latency, but there will be a small latency because of internet lag. Our strategy is focused on developing an interface that can diminish the effect on the users perception."

Looks like it could develop into something cool. Sadly, it doesn't look like they're going to reach their Kickstarter goal, but it seems like the project will go ahead regardless. They say the prototype has been in operation for 6 years.
