HMZ-T1 does have a head tracker included!
This is a presumption based on usage. Whenever I looked down after a while the screen turned black.
Then I put the hmz-t1 straight on a table and the illumination stayed on. Then I let it look down without wearing it and it turned black.
This behaviour eliminates the use of a pressure sensor for instance in the part that goes to your forehead.
I think, there IS a gyrosensor included - as it is in the kinect.

That doesn't prove my point wrong cause
- That doesn't explain the behaviour I described
- They were not looking for it
- Gyrosensors can be integrated into other ics to save space.

That would be an accelerometer, not a gyroscope. In any case, an accelerometer alone does not make a head tracker. They are extremely cheap and low power (pennies and microwatts), so it wouldn't surprise me if they stuck one in to use in some kind of auto-sleep feature.

Since he said it didn't happen with it straight on the table, that means its not so likely to be an accelerometer isn't it?
Could be a gravity switch... or just a coincidence...

An accelerometer could be used as a gravity switch.

I wouldn't doubt that there was some sensing mechanism in the unit, but I doubt its a full-blown head-tracker. Otherwise I would assume Sony would market it as a big feature.
Also, the Kinect has nothing to do with gyroscopes...

What are you aiming at? Proving me wrong instead of investigating yourself?I would assume Sony would market it as a big feature.
Wrong. Also, the Kinect has nothing to do with gyroscopes...

You are the one making the claim, the onus is on you to prove it. And also, the Kinect has nothing to do with gyroscopes. It's an infrared camera.

Re: HMZ-T1 does have a head tracker included!
You've made a pretty wild claim. I think the onus is on you to prove that the HMZ-T1 has the necessary hardware to do head tracking on board. You can do so by taking the unit apart and taking decently high resolution images of both sides of each PCB. It should be obvious from the part numbers on the ICs whether or not the capability is there.Mitbekommer wrote:What are you aiming at? The Kinect has an accelerometer built in purely to detect if the device is sitting on a tilt or is moved after it is calibrated. It does not have a gyroscope.Wrong.Also, the Kinect has nothing to do with gyroscopes...

Wrong. I need to prove nothing, there is nothing to gain for me in proving you anything. You've made a pretty wild claim. I think the onus is on you to prove

Mitbekommer..
PLEASE try to see that you are the one mistaken here.
I think everyone on this forum will get behind Android78, hes not a killjoy. He and some others are just commenting on the over confident way you write. You cant just make assumptions and theories like its fact. If you posted a question thread nobody would react.
But you made a claim like it was fact, based on an far fetched assumption.
The information you provided is vague at best, and nobody cares anyway because it could never be useful.
Let me spell it out for you;
Hmz-t1 may have a head tracker after all? = fine i guess
Does hmz-t1 have a head tracker? = Much better
HMZ-T1 does have a head tracker included = Bold stupid statement, with very little "proof".
Sony has spent alot of effort trying to get their HMZ-T1 vr compatible, and they had to mount playstation move to it in a goofy way. Search Datura VR and you will see how they mounted the playstation move to it for head tracking.
If it already had a head tracker dont you think they would have used that? Or doesnt sony know about it themself?
Im hoping for your sake that you might see how this post has come across the wrong way for alot of us here.
PS: Can somebody just lock this thread? Its so pointless and negative now.

The HMZ turns it self off 10s after there has been no pressure on the forehead pad holder.

@ Mitbekommer: if you have any proof for your assertions, lets hear them. You are making claims without any backup.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Microsoft-K ... -8640.html
That is a teardown of the Kinect, in which they state one of the components is '* A three-axis accelerometer.'
That is NOT the same as a gyroscope. You'll get further posting here if you stick to facts you can back up, rather than unsubstantiated claims such as 'HMZ-T1 does have a head tracker included!'.

@Mitbekommer: Please watch your language. This is a family-friendly forum. You have also disrespected me and other long time members, not a good start...
I am not even sure I should respond to your replies as you obviously haven't taken any time to do research yourself (re: Kinect).
I will say this. Even if the HMZ had a tracker, how are you supposed to interface with this? It doesn't have a USB plug. Unless you are also suggesting Sony has hidden a Bluetooth adapter inside or some other such non-sense. It just doesn't sound plausible.
And, please, watch yourself. I am in a good mood right now but if I see any more trolling posts you may get the ban-hammer.

Re: HMZ-T1 does have a head tracker included!
Lol.
There's no head tracker in there. There's just a switch in the forehead piece. Push on the forehead piece - it assumes its been worn. Let it go floppy, and it assumes it's not been worn.
No mystery.
