Grading games that use unofficial "fixes"

Post by Fasty »

When rating a game, do we rate it according to how it works "out of the box", or do we rate it according to how it works after applying a fix such as Helix's Mods (http://helixmod.wikispot.org)? I would of course assume that if we rated the "fixed" version, it would have to be specified, but I'd like to know what the official word is regarding this :)

It's A-OK to list unofficial fixes. HOWEVER, you have to clearly state:

I. How it was fixed with a description and link to the source.
II. What settings or visual qualities were removed or adjusted to do this fix. These are things that get chosen from the required settings reduction menu.

So for example, let's say you had to turn off a shader or remove shadows as part of the fix, this has to be clearly stated and selected - you can't keep secrets.
