just a few simple questions about lg d2342p (passive)

hi there :), i just read the big thread on this board about this particular monitor but found some of the answers a bit too technical to understand n wanted to check a few things.

basically its like this, i was thinking of buying the lg d2342p and using powerdvd 11 to run my movies in micro-polarized row interleaved 3d.does the monitor support this mode? also i've seen some bad reviews of the monitor but wasn't sure if it was to do with ppl just using the bundled 3d software provided instead of better software or if it was the monitor itself.

its the first 3d monitor i've seen in my price range u see as i'm on benefits for mental health issues, so was wondering if the 3d effect generated was worth 230 quid of my money as an entry level first 3d setup?

I think thats the only mode for polarized. Technically it should work with hdmi 1.4a. Or does it have vga or dvi? Glad to see your getting information about connectivity. You could also rip your blu-ray 3d movies to 3d file and play them back with a stereo player. Make sure your pc can playback anaylgraph red blue 1080p movie soon too, then you can see if theres any other problems like stuttering. You can get clips and whatnot and use Sview 3d player http://www.sview.ru/en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just ask any questions your not sure of, even if they been asked before. This forums is pretty layed back and not strict.

well i was pleased to see that my old laptop can still handle playing movies with the micro polarised mode playin,doesn't seem to stutter but the monitor is slightly bigger than my laptops screen that i've tried it on so may yet struggle a bit with extra pixels.

i'll try on my lcd tv later coz thats more or less the same size as the monitor

just thought i'd add that anaglyph plays fine and polarised plays perfectly without stuttering with 720p files,not sure about 1080p though coz i don't have any 1080p movies tbh.

might be askin a bit much with outdated hardware but i'll get myself a 1080p movie n try it out n get back to ya,u never know :D

Should be a nice monitor. I have a Zalman, which uses the same type of technology, and its great. Not perfect, but nothing really is.

For the price, you really can't do any better. I would buy one if I didn't already have all this crap.

I just seen the specs for this monitor: http://www.lg.com/sg/it-product/monitor ... D2342P.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looks like it supports blu-ray 3d 1080p, i think all blu-ray 3d movies are 1080p. Your video card for playback acceleration for a list is here: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technolo ... dware.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If your laptop is supported then the movie playback will not use your cpu.
What matters most is the display because you can always buy blu-ray 3d movies and rip them to file in a 720p format too: http://www.dvdfab.com/blu-ray-3d-ripper.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I got this software and i encoded my blu-ray 3d movie into .wmv 3d and it was real good. Then i use Sview 3d player to play them back. I'm not 1080p compliant yet.

If you can get a blu-ray 3d movie and a demo of cyberlink powerdvd 11 ultra 3d and try and play it back in anylgragh red blue, then you could see if your computer is also ready. I just want you to be ready when you get your monitor.

I really don't think bad reviews of a monitor are a good thing, if all else fails then just use a 3d movie file and Sview 3d player.

I doubt the price will drop much lower. There is a lot of 3D equipment that has been out for years (like the Zalman Trimon) and its still just as expensive.
