SyncMaster S23A750D or Acer GN245HQbmid/Asus VG236H

Post by Lino10 »

Hello,

I've been checking your website a lot those months. It's pretty nice. I decided to buy a 3D monitor for my computer (i7 870, GTX 460 1Go,4Go DDR3).
But I really don't know which one :(
Considering that you are expert in that field, I ask you
2 monitors look nice to me:
-Acer GN245HQbmid/Asus VG236H : not so bad reviews
-Samsung SyncMaster S23A750D : Displayport! (no reviews)

Since DisplayPort can 1080@120hz (and the HDMi1.4a doesn't), should I buy this samsung? is the DisplayPort, the futur for the 3d-pc-gaming?
If not, Acer or Asus?

Mainly use : video-games(wow and fps), movies, photoshoping, programming.

Thanks

I hope i'm not in the wrong section

Well those monitors are all a little different, so it really depends on what you want to do with it. If you want PS3 / stand-alone Blu-Ray 3D support (or support from AMD GPUs) then an HDMI 1.4a monitor is a better option. You can read a review of that Acer here: http://3dvision-blog.com/24-inch-acer-g ... or-review/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . If you are using an Nvidia card and mainly want to play PC games in 3D, then an Nvidia 3D Vision 120Hz display is probably a better bet. The thing to watch out for with HDMI 1.4a is that it only supports gaming at 720P, so you will be limited with that Acer or Samsung monitor. 1080P 3D is possible with the Samsung, but only with AMD cards I believe. Displayport can handle 1080P @ 120Hz, but so can Dual-Link-DVI, just like on all the 120Hz 3D LCDs. So really out of those choices I think the Asus VG236H is the best fit for you. You will get the full quality 1080P @ 60Hz 3D in either games or movies. 2D tasks like web-browsing or photoshop/programming should be fine and will benefit from the 120Hz refresh rate. And the price isn't bad.

If for you the Asus is better than the Acer for Gaming, I'll go for it!

I love what you are doing.

See you soon

Thanks man!

Keep in mind I haven't seen that Samsung or Acer monitor, some my opinion on them is just based on the specs. I do have the Asus VG236H, and it looks decent enough. There's some ghosting, sure, but otherwise it looks really nice.
