Our friends at Jon Peddie Research forwarded this article to us. It's a very interesting summary of the technologies used to make stereoscopic 3D displays possible, and efforts taken to improve brightness and limit crosstalk. It shares some exciting statistics as well:

Samsung has sold 600,000 3D HDTV units as of June, 2010
Samsung's 3D premium is only $300 above the 2D counterpart of the same quality.
Panasonic's 3D HDTV sales account for 40% of units sized 50" or greater.
